we are dealing with it here at Smith Mountain Lake in VA. Their is a group SMLA Smith Mountain Lake Assc. They are a bunch of retired Yankees (no offence to other OSOs) that want to ban boats, jet skis, and anything fun:drool:

They're greenies as we call them on the snowmobiling boards. You have to really pay attention to what they do. They fill people's heads with a bunch of lies and crap and create an emergency out of it (to get donations). Then, they begin taking your rights away. I know in NY the snowmobilers are pretty active at fighting them and are doing a good job.

Believe me, they'll argue noise polution, then emission standards (even though in the case of snowmobiles the vast majority - dare I say over 90% - meet and exceed the standards...the newer ones beat the standards for 2006).

Really...watch them...if you don't pay attention they pull all kinds of stupid stunts, most of which kill the tourism economy that is so crucial in many places and take your rights away.

Now your talking my language! Plenty of time for peace and rest when your dead.

Pretty scary that this is all these characters have to worry about in the world. I guess that's what makes them dangerous is that while the rest of us are hard at work at our jobs, these people are sitting home thinking of things to cause trouble over. As they state in their website, they're getting their (bogus) facts together, so they can try to hit different areas with legislation all at once. They cause the initial commotion to get everyone in a panic and then get their self serving legislation passed by people who have no idea what they're passing. I saw the attempt on Skaneateles Lake near Syracuse NY led by a bunch of these characters in the interest of "pollution." They ran around and had elderly people signing petitions with no idea on what they were for. Luckily there were several of us who headed them off, but since I've been gone from that area, there is no telling what they've been pushing. We all have to keep a close eye on these idiots, no matter what body of water we're on, because they're out there, just waiting for an opportunity to try to take us off the water.

It's because they want to be us.
