I live in Western NY about 1 hour from the border. For about 25 years I had spent at least a week vacation boating and diving in Canada. Spent a ton of money and had some great times but I haven't been to Canada in two years and I don't know when I will return. I just got tired of the Anti American attitude. and decided that if they did not like us then I would stay home and so would my money. To the Canadians on the list, I am sorry but I don't know of any other way to express my dissatisfaction then by staying away for a while. I know that many Canadians are great people but they do not seem to be in charge and are not listened to or quoted by the press.

padraig, I have experienced the same Anti Canadain attitude in your country. But I don't judge all by the voice of a few.

And for the rest of the posts that just want to post insults, GROW UP!

I frequently travel to Canada. More Quebec than Ontario. I have made some great friends in Quebec, but they are totally against this anti-American sentiment. I have also met some SUPER people here on OSO from both Quebec and Ontario, namely GLH, Airpacker and others. However, as a rule of thumb I have found the people in Ontario to much more like Mid-Westerner's (i.e. down home good people) than like Quebecois. Someone earlier stated that the Quebecois (as a whole, certainly not ALL) are more like the French. That is EXACTLY right! They are just like the French, pretentious, conceded and self-righteous. Unfortunately, I still spend money there in the winter...you just can't beat them trailside warming sluts...uh I mean huts.

P.S. I have a friend in New Brunswick and he says they hate the Quebecois as well.

P.P.S. I don't care what your nationality, when another countries anthem is played, you STAND UP, SHUT UP, and REMOVE YOUR HAT!
Made some changes to the above
