Default Drive shower mounting question???

I have Bravo Drives with the Sportmaster Lowers. These have a bolt on cavitation plate that is somewhat larger than what you get on a standard lower.

My question is:

I have room to mount the pick-up at the rear center of the cavitation plate, is that a good location?

Instructions say to mount it off to the side. I think this is because that is the only place it can be mounted on a standard lower.

Is there some technical reason to mount it to the side?
Like, will pick up water better off of the props or something?

Any help would be appreciated before I start drilling holes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would think there would be much less water at the center of the cavitation plate..... lower unit/shaft/bullet will be causing the water to part away from that area. I can't help but believe you would get little to no water mounting it there.

I belive Mile is correct. Also you want to put it on the sid that the water is being pushed buy the prop blade.

Interesting! Anyone else have opinions?

So what your saying is if the prop is rotating clockwise, mount it to the right side?

If it runs counterclockwise, mount it to the left side?

Sounds like you have a single pickup model.
I like a dual pickup Simrek. What is yours?

If the prop is rotating clockwise, mount it on the left to get the most water forced through the pickup. counterclockwise rotation mount it on the right.

Sonny, Why are you installing these on your boat? Have you been having problems? We tried showers on the race boat and it slowed us down. Roger

Mine are mounted on the outside part of the cavitation plate. They seem to get plenty of water when on plane.

I would think that mounting them in the center will not get "clean" water to the pickups.
