Too drunk to fish? You decide!
Ft Lauderdale/Sun-Sentinel
Tues. April 13, 2004 Two Ft. Lauderdale men injured in a boat explosion Sunday were treated at are hospitals and released. Harry Unger,44, and Richard Bastiani,47, were setting out for a day of fishing when they stopped to buy fuel. Instead of putting fuel in the fuel tank, one of the men put fuel in the boat through a fishing-rod holder, Pompano Fire-Rescue officials said. The men put in at the boat ramp in Alsdorf Park at 2901 NE 14th St. in Pompano Beach about 6am and sparked an explosion when they started the engine. The explosion threw the men to the deck and engulfed the 26 ft. boat in flames. Both men received burns to their torsos. See my motto below for my thoughts. Greg |
I think i read something like that before. you would think they would smell the gas when they got in the boat.

Maybe a better statement would be "Too stupid to own a boat"

I know of this happening three times at the same fuel dock in NJ. Common occurance it seems:confused:

Don't try and fill your holding tank. Seen that done once. Someone had switched the colored caps.

Brilliant...

a friend of mine went for fuel and the dock guy filled up his water tank.. he went to all the resturants downtown and came out and his boat was surounded by the fire rescue boats and spill containment stuff.... what a nightnare for him

Yup, a marina filled my buddy's water tank with fuel, then they did a piss poor job cleaning it, so he spent an entire Saturday cleaning and flushing to get it out. Next week he recieves a 15 dollar "fueling charge" bill:rolleyes: .

My favorite is an article I read in the paper about a man that had fuel line freeze up. He tried to "heat up" a pot of gasoline on his stove in his apartment. You figure out the rest! :o

What the hell was he thinkin'??
