Default Krakmeup

Definitely go oversize on the trailer. The ONLY time you will regret not doing it is when your SB30 is lyiong on the interastate because the tires blew out from being overloaded.

The rule I use is to have at least a 10% safety factor from the absolute max weight.

Take the 4635 lbs for the boat, add fuel (@7.5 lbs/gal) plust trailer, gear etc. then add 10% and I think 7000 lbs is a good number.

Over spec your trailer and tow vehicle, you will never be sorry.

Wannabe - You mean 7000 GVW or 7000 Carrying capacity?

Krakmeup. I agree with post above. Where ever you end up getting a trailer get it oversized.

for example, We have been putting the tri-axle under that boat using a 7 1/2" beam. Bunk mounting is the same mounts used on the 38-40 so its overdesigned with sling strap set up. This way you can tow as fast as you want/ ramp or crane load/unload and not worry about salt water corrosion.

The 7K is the GVWR of the trailer reference above and may be pushing it with extended towing, full of fuel and everything else you add to the boat. Typical beam size is 5" or 5 1/2" which is small for that length.

This is the 7 1/2" beam tri-axle. With the light tire loading, Jack-knife turns are not a problem.

Welcome Krakmeup

I am getting that 18' classic to its new home this week

We also have a new diesel shop in town...

www.dieselperformancecity.com

Give them a call when you're ready to do the mods to your F 250.

Thanks Larry, Eric! Let me know how the Donzi first splash goes!!

eMotion - hope you never get that thread!! Ha! Can't wait, reconsidering the external steering after all the input, thanks!

Still haven't bought my trailer, hope to next week or so.

Hi-tech, Wannabe, thanks for the trailer info, I'm still in the research phase, so this all helps!

Getting ready to find graphics and other goodies in the meantime.

Will post how my visit with JC goes in two weeks, Jcap thinks he'll be able to offer a ride, so that will be TOO COOL!!
