Dual Gps
 

I currently have a Garmin color GPS with a Garmin antenna and am adding a autometer analog GPS. I would like to use the same antenna. Does anyone know where I can order a Y adapter to plug into both units from one antenna? Thanks for your help. Doug

Depending on which Garmin, you may have up to 3 output connections. I am installing a Livorsi unit on mine and connecting to the Garmin 182 C.

There are 2?(I think) wires out of the back of the analog GPS which will get the power and signal from the Garmin. You should only need one antenna.

I am assuming that the Autometer is compatible with the Garmin. Autometer should be able to tell you.

Most modern GPS's are NMEA(National Marine Electronics Association) certified and have standard wiring for input/output. You should be able to piggy-back the Analog unit off of your main gps. There should be a speed-only output. Check with your manual, some manufacturers have different wiring color codes.

I have a Garmin also, and I know for a fact these output wires exist, either for a speedo, autopilot, pc laptop, etc.

Thanks guys, My autometer gps has a female recepticle the the antenna should plug into. I was hoping that someone would manufacture a y adapter. Wishful thinking? Thanks Doug

Look for another output on the GPS. It should be able to pass the signal through to another unit. You shouldn't need a Y cord.
