Thank god it didn't wipe out someone innocently sitting in another boat! It's accidents like these that we're all going to be paying for with higher insurance rates and legislation. I realize accidents can happen to the best of us, but it sure sounds like this isn't the first for this owner, and honestly, how hard is it to wear a lanyard?

If I'm not mistaken, this is not his first go fast boat... his last boat was a 32. The good thing is that no one was seriously hurt! As a matter of fact, the owner of the boat was the one that had to cut off the engines!
I hope this will be a reminder to him (and everyone else) to start using their lanyard!

My boat has a kill switch that I use. But it seems like there should be one for the passenger too.

(This, by the way, is why you MUST carry spare lanyard caps... )
An even better deal would be to wire your passenger's lanyard to the "Man Over Board" button on your GPS.
