2003 Sonic 358

Said "GOOD-BYE" to the never ending Active Thunder 33AVH project, and my 31' Formula PC, the "go-slow" performance cruiser, and picked up this at All-Pro Marine this weekend.
(sorry Sydwayz-Brian, I know you were looking at this for a while, but I know you'll love a Top Gun much better;) |
nice paint. works with the lines of the sonic. ;)
|
Yeah- i hear it was painted a couple of times by the original owner, but for the most part it's a good job. The boat is still up in Annapolis,MD for some touch up on the paint around the air vents, and some items on my punch out list.
Waiting for Myco to finish my trailer to pull it down to VA. |
Congrats Adam! I am really happy for you. If all goes well, I will be a new boat owner soon too.
Can't wait to see you on the River. |
Its got 500EFIs, and mostly white interior with blue accent. Its REALLY pretty.
I don't think the paint thing is a bad deal. The builders/original owners are members of OSO. I was told by Frank that the original paint, just did not look right. It was attempted to be 'fixed' which did not work well either. The boat was then fully prepped and painted with the paint you see now. Judging from that painter's other works; several done at O-P in Maryland, you will have nothing to worry about. Adam, I am glad you are ditching that Rocket trailer too, er cart, or whatever you want to call them. |
got more pics but too large. Anyone know how to resize to fit??
|
Adam, open them in Paint. (right click, open with MS Paint, and then, go to IMAGE, then SKETCH/SKEW, and lower the aspect ratio for verticle and horizontal equally. Resave and repost.
I sent you a PM. |

Brian- sent you a PM-
do I hear a "MONSOON" coming???:D |
Very nice!
The wife and I had the pleasure of getting to take out a new 358 with 525's for an hour a couple of weekends back. It is a very nice boat. Sonic does several things that other builders could learn from. I especially like the cuddy. Enjoy:cool: |
very nice good luck with her!!!
|
Hey Dock-
could not afford a new 358 with 525's, but what kinda speed with that set up?? 85 or so?? |
Very nice looking boat. Congratulations. Too bad the 33 AVH didn't work out.
Brian, I'll see you next week:D |
Hey Todd-
take care of Brian in Havasu, and we want some pics;) I know he's wanting your boat pretty bad, and it would look nice on the Potomac River..:p and yes I wanted to go boating THIS year, so the 33AVH just did not work out. Pat is still a great guy though, and those Thunders ride like no other:D |

Thunder - Really pretty Sonic. Who painted it? Look forward to seeing you on the river. If you ever plan to use some gas and get up around the DC area, drop a note. Would enjoy meeting you.
|
Hey Far-
I do not know who painted the boat- I'm the 2nd owner. Brian (Sydwayz) may know. We go up to DC a few times a year and stay at Washington Marina. Let me know how to get a hold of you. Thanks- Adam |
The in house painter at Offshore-Performance.com painted it.
|
Congrats That is one sweet ride :)
|

I wish we had a small GPS we could have carried with us, but all I can tell you is what I saw on the speedo. First of all being use to my 36 Outlaw I was way over trimming the boat. I found that the boat does not need or like much trim at low speeds. When you open it up it likes trim and will haul the mail. To be a 35 footer it had a smaller boat feel which I liked. The engine compartment like my Baja does not have a lot of room. The cockpit is smaller than I am use to with the 36. But when you go down in the cuddy you find all that extra space and it feels like you are in a 38 footer. Overall fit and finish is excellent. Many very nice touches. I would be proud to own one. Now, I know what the question was and some of you might think I'm crazy for not running the hell out of this boat. But, this boat only had six hours on it, the dealer is a good friend, I have bought three boats from him and he trusts that we would take good care of it. Beyond that someone will be buying this boat new and if I was them I would want to know that it had been treated right. The 525's are AWESOME! WOW they sound great and they really do push the Sonic faster than I am use to with the 500's in the 36 Outlaw. After about twenty minutes and learning to trim the boat properly and getting the feel of it we opened it up just for a very short time. It popped up to 80 MPH from around 60 almost instantly, Then you could tell it had a lot more but was building speed a little slower. I saw 82 on the speedo and backed off. It was a real treat just to get handed the keys and be told to take it and enjoy and give them some feedback. The boat if given a little more room and running time and trimmed properly should be in the low to mid 80's on GPS. I'm sure I could have seen 85 on the speedo. This boat is totally loaded out with everything you can put on one including flat screen and DVD, mood lighting and custom lights in the engine compartment. With an aluminum trailer they have it priced at $246,000. There was a guy that put a deposit on it but they could not get him financed, so it is still on the market. Good luck with your new 358! The colors are awesome, I really like it and the 500's are sweet. We have had very good luck with ours. Dock |
Nice ride.
Stopped into the Sonic area at the Miami Boat Show and spent the better part of an hour there looking stuff over. I was impressed. The 358 they had there was fully equipped with full galley, great graphics, flat screen, DVD, mood lighting, electric bolsters, etc. and HO's. While HO's may not be the optimum engine package for a 35 footer, the price was only $153k on a trailer and they were writing them up as fast as they could. Enjoy your new boat! |
Congrats and best of luck. She is beautiful.
|
Hey Troutly-
I have to agree with you on the dash- have already ordered new panels that will be customed to match the paint on the boat ( just like the cigs:D ) I have to get rid of some of that blue. Probably change the panels out in fall, I just need to get it in the water;) |
Congrats Adam!!!!!
|
Congrats beautiful ride, plus it has all the stuff they put in crusiers these days. :D:D
|
Originally posted by Troutly Overall, a very nice boat. The only thing I wish they would do is change that helm station look. Kind of dated. But hey, as I said, overall....NICE BOAT!!! Congrats :) |
Sweeet lookin'! You need to bring that puppy down here in August on the 6th & 7th and run it with some other comparable boats in our poker run. You can follow Craig down...;)
