Miami Beach.......Hotels.......for the .....

2005 Miami Boat Show. I need some suggestions for a hotel. We have always stated north of Ft Lauderdale, but after the traffic this year at the boat show. Closer is better I believe.
So, I need some names and I hope this is from experience at staying at one of them
Thanks
JB

We stayed at the WAVE right on the strip. Just OK but expensive. Seems to be the norm right there.

Essex House, 50 ft from Clevelander. Collins & 10th. Nice place for the price, small bathrooms, but nice ambiance.

A bunch of us stayed at the St. Augustine (3rd & Collins) for the 2004 show. Decent location and reasonable rate. Friendly staff/hosts. Up Collins is obviously a better choice (closer to Convention Ctr), but the electric shuttle ($0.25) makes it pretty painless to get to the show. Taxis around $10.00.

I usually stay at the Boulevard at 8th and Ocean. Well priced considering where you are. Small rooms, but there is only three thing that you really do in there ;)

I stayed at the Holiday Inn, 3 blocks from the convention center. I hadnt stayed at a Holiday Inn in probably 10 years ( IMO, they had previously deteriorated over all ) but was pleasantly surprised at the updated / more upscale and bright look once inside this one. I paid 219 per night by phoning direct to them, 2 weeks before the show ( their website and other websites had said that this location was full / booked ). I walked to the show ( 10 minutes max obeying the crosswalk lights ), and took cabs everywhere else. Bathroom was small with a single sink / vanity which is a ***** if you and the significant other are getting ready at the same time. Room was decent sized, clean, and orderly for 2 when asking for the single king sized bed.

They also provided a menu in the room of a true italian pizza joint that was just down the street from the hotel, which came in handy one night at 2:30 am since they delivered . . hey, at that point I was too lit to even walk :D

for spring break i stayed at the riande continental. a couple block north of the delano. On the beach and cheap. not that great but it works. I stayed at the fountainblu one year for the miami show. That was amazing, and you cant beat the location. now my parents have a place in ft lauderdale so i stay there and drive.

Sleepin', crappin', watching TV and doing the "Wild Monkey Dance"...that's four.
