Unless you're documented, in which case you MUST have both. The side of the boat is OK if they're no room on the back, but it must be to the spec's that lotoparty posted. You must also have your documentation number etched or otherwise indelibly marked inside the hull of your boat in 3" tall numbers. If you don't follow the USCG rules and they decide to fine you, the numbers get HUGE.

This Batboat is NOT documented, so I could just play around. The exclamation point is a "BatSignal".
