Gear Case Question...CLE in specific

I brought the boat home from the lake earlier this week to get her ready. Waxed the trailer 2 nights ago. Last night when I went to do some other stuff I noticed gear lube leaking out from the exhaust hub/bearing carrier. I drained the drive and cleaned the bearing carrier thoroughly. Then I replaced all the fiber washers and re-filled the case. This morning...no oil leak! Where do you think this came from? I inspected the carrier as best I could and saw no evidence of cracking etc. The only thing I can think of (and hopefully all it is) is the washer around the rear drain plug began to leak. Any other ideas?

You sure it was not oil from when you winterized it? You know that did not get burned up in the winterization process.....

GOOD POINT radio boy! Maybe that 220 you zap yourself with every morning is actually WORKING!;) :p It may very well be Jon. I would think if the drive was leaking it would have been all over the garage floor this morning... no?

Well they can leak when they turn also. Back when I ran egg beaters there were times that they would never leak but then when I got home and looked I would have water in the drive.... Some times it comes in through the water pump. I guess it is possible that if it was drive fluid that it could have pushed up through the water pump but that would be a odd duck in deed. My guess since I did not actually see the oil is that it is just your fogging oil making it down the exhaust. Ok Stock boy!!! I would definatly keep a eye on it first coule times out just to be certain.
