a lot of bosters I talk to buy a boat because the dealer was close to home or they liked the look, they don't read magazines or websites, a different level of interest I guess....

35' Fountain with chilled 575's 103 mph...sorry not 136...I eat crow

without the chiller and pulley change 90mph..so it did pick up about 100hp per engine and 13 mph...that's a lot

LPA, thank you for clearing that up. I wasnt calling you a liar last night, but I know damn well that boat would not run 136mph. Was that fountain running standard length bravos when it ran 103, or were they 2" shorties?

WAS A RACE HULL, not a production hull. WAS MASSAGED AND TWEAKED, was not fresh and untouched from the mold.

WAS RUNNING STERLING 1050's that had been MASSAGED by Fountain's gurus. THEY WERE NOT FACTORY SEALED nor were they supposed to be.

Yeah, sure. Sanctioned that the boat was 42' long and it ran 160mph. That's all. NOBODY has tried to enter this record into the books on a PRODUCTION BOAT or STOCK CLASS record.

Sounds like LPA has fallen right into King Reggie's marketing trap.

Boats ARE NOT Porsches. Boats Are NOT CARS. A car can "go 184" mph and it will pretty much do it on any track as long as the track is long enough and the weather is "normal". A boat won't repeat its max speed unless every conceivable variable is EXACTLY right, including just the right water wind trim balance and holding your jaw just right. To compare the two (boats and Porsches) makes me wonder if you truly grasp any of the important differences in performance cars and performance boats.

Let me sum it up:

Anybody can own a high performance car and if they use caution they can be reasonably safe. It is not that way in a high performance boat.

Honestly, some of your threads cause me a significant degree of worry...
