83 on GPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I changed an oil sending unit so I had to test it you know:D Had my full snowmobile suit on, Helmet, Jacket, Gloves and Bibs. With the Helmet on I was able to withstand the cold and could see the GPS. I was at 83 and wide open, 5200 rpms and trim at 3, I bet I could have seen 85 or so but backed down. All temps and pressure's were right on and it was a blast, went out to lake MI and there were 2-3s and a 4 every so often, got up on plane and cruised over them at 50, man my old Donzi would have broken in half. This AT rocks. My 1:36s and 25s are right on, sorry Dyno but your labbed 23s are still in the box, I may see 5400 with them and that is too much. I may still try but keep it under 5200. I was by myself since this was a last second deal, I had Rick Denbore help me launch and DK Western was there to retrieve, I wanted to do it by myself because that is how I like it but welcomed the help with the short docks and wind. I have to put it in a slip for a few days, major surgery on the trailer. I am cutting off the back and moving the boat forward, the engines are not over the axles and they have to be. I will take pics as we do it. The X can handle the tongue weight because I have air bags:D Man I love being a boat owner again, I spend hours in the Garage (yes it fit to within 7 feet) Now we need warm air please, 54 at 83 = 0:D

traviss 04-26-2004 08:06 PM

congrats bro :D :D

A little faster then that zodiac ;)

Waterfoul 04-26-2004 08:08 PM

Sweet mitch!!!!!!

Should have called me....:(

MitchStellin 04-26-2004 08:09 PM

And more stable:D I had more trim left but that was fast enough, had the tether on for sure:D I was inland so the water was 1-2s, just enough for a lift.;)

MitchStellin 04-26-2004 08:13 PM

Sorry Mike, I was by myself and it was a last second thing, next time for sure.

Waterfoul 04-26-2004 08:15 PM

No biggie. I did yard work tonight. I think I'm done with all the spring stuff finally.

When it gets warmer, I wouldn't be surprised if you will not be able to get it over 80. Cold air does wonders for fast boats.

But I bet it was cool as can be to see that GPS hit the 83 mark!

Congrats!!

Audiofn 04-26-2004 09:06 PM

Mitch you must be happy with that :D:D

MitchStellin 04-26-2004 09:21 PM

I would assume I will lose speed, thats when the 23s come out:D I figured high 70s so this was a surprise, it was still climbing, next time lake mi is smooth I am there. That is still plenty fast enough, I figure 66 for a good cruise speed.

Strip Poker 388 04-26-2004 10:07 PM

Mitch congrats on the new boat. Thats some pretty good speeds. lets see some pictures:D :D

dockrocker 04-26-2004 11:08 PM

Nice - I took a ride with Joe Skrocki in his 32 and couldn't believe how hard it accelerated, just had this fantastic midrange punch. 32 AT is a very nice ride!

ActiveThunderTodd 04-26-2004 11:14 PM

Mitch,

My 32 AT did 81 in 97 degree at the LOTO shoot out a couple years ago. I would have won had I been in the stock twin V 30 - 32' div. But I had just had the motors freshened after 325 hrs and there were no more seals on the 500 hp's so they bumped me to modified. These boats all had blowers, all running in the 90's. Oh well I know how strong my stock boat ran. :D

I was thinking the same thing. At 3 on my drive idicator it's at neutral.

dyno 04-27-2004 05:16 AM

MitchStellin 04-27-2004 08:39 AM

It is in today for the skeg. Next is the trailer, that thing is way too big.

dyno 04-27-2004 09:06 AM

I'll get the gas axe!!!:)

26scarab 04-27-2004 09:32 AM

Mitch,
you sure that thing doesn't have Bulldogs?

Crazyhorse 04-27-2004 11:20 AM

Mitch, before you trim the trailer take a look at Kaama's and the way it sits on his trailer.
Looking forward to doing some running with you this summer.

Chart 04-27-2004 12:10 PM

Are you sure about trimming the trailer? I've got about 1200 on my tongue, and with the air bags the Excursion can ride level, but that's enough weight to cause a teeter-totter effect (porpoising) on less than perfect roads. I'd love to slide my boat back, but there is no more trailer.

Please make sure you're right before doing something you wish you had not.

CigDaze 04-27-2004 12:25 PM

Mitch, those are some great numbers. I love those 32 AT's. Good luck with her! :)

Would there be any way to move the trailer wheels forward? It would have the same effect on tongue weight.

dyno 04-27-2004 12:50 PM

toung weight isn't his problem the trailer is just too big..it has 2 foot of bunk behind the boat......Gas axe!!

Not easily. The spring shackles are welded to the trailer, not u bolted. The trailer tracks great, as a Myco should, but it is just not very adjustable. It was never meant to be. I don't think the trailer was built for my boat, but that the prior owner bought it used.

Milord 04-27-2004 02:35 PM

Sweet Mitch, those are some nice numbers man!

Waterfoul 04-27-2004 05:05 PM

Mitch is right. The trailer is huge. It used to be a race boat trailer with a drive gaurd. The previous owner, for God knows what reason, cut the drive gaurd off!!! With it gone, the trailer is really long, and the boat sits far enough forward on the bunks that the drives can hit the rear lower cross member of the trailer (the one with the lights in it). Sliding the boat back is not an option as it will never hit the forward bow support (it can't be slid any farther back on the trailer tongue). The entire boat needs to go about 2' further onto the trailer but can't in it's present state.

Good thing Steve gave you that paint eh Mitch??

MitchStellin 04-27-2004 05:48 PM

Yes, it is wrong, I have a friend who is not using his slip until mid may, it is about 1/4 mile from my house so that is the ticket. Should start this week. I have 3 feet behind the boat and 10 in front of it. I can go forward 3 feet and then the engines are over the axle, right now they sit completely off the axle, any farther back and I would have negative tonge weight.

AIRDOO800X 04-28-2004 05:04 PM

BLING BLING

Mitch,
Nice boat man. Where do they make those? I used to own one of Rick Denboer's old 311's. You'll have to race his 382. It's pretty fast from what I hear.
About the 83mph, I think I might have to see that first hand, so don't hesitate to call me for another sea trial, I'm only a couple miles from you and the beer store is on the way..

SWEET RIDE!!

Did you get the Thundercat put away for the season?

Scott
