Retractable anchor light
I have seem a motorized retractable anchor light before but can't find them now. Does anyone have one or know where I can get one?

ExtremeBoats magazine had one advertised at [url]www.fountainofyouthrestore.com. The ad said to click on the "Specialty Marine Products" button when you get there.

Before you spend $150 on a light, consider how many lights, antennas, etc people have grabbed or hooked on ropes and broken before.
I had one on a boat and was expecting it to get broken every time it was up. Gary |
We have one on the rig and it works great, pretty cool also the first few times.
I might be carefull in long time exposure in salt enviroments but minor maintenance should take care of that. |
I have had mine for 2 years , It on the back of the boat by the swim platform and nobody has grabed it yet yet yet:eek: Its worth not putting up the pole all the time
|
Just installed the electric one from Eddie Marine,Works great.....

You are right, no way to get in there on a 32. I traded the 32 in this year for a 38. |
I had one on my last boat. I thought it was the coolest thing until one night leaving the dock bar, it wouldn't go up. No better feeling than leaving a dock bar at 1:am knowing that you now have a 95% chance of either A) getting pulled over by the water patrol that sit outside the bar coves or B) getting hit by some really drunk SOB who can't see you...
...so I have a nice simple, manual one now. Works every time. |

Shorty, That had to be a bad feeling. I think I would have made my wife hold a flash light up.
epeek, Thanks. I have only had it out twice but that's going to change. Chores can wait!! |
I just installed mine. Got it from Eddie Marine. Love it. It's the shiznit. Nice and flush in the down position. Also, no pole bouncing around in the boat, Kids can't step on it , plus my manual ones never worked when I needed them. Either the bulb was busted or the contacts in the sh!tty perko base were corroded:rolleyes:
|
Used mine for the first time in actual battle conditions last night (4-5 footers) thing worked great.

Girls love sitting on the electric ones and have you flip the switch.:D

Saw that happen once. In party cove LOTO but it was a inflateable girl thank god. |
Darn...mine is on back order:(

Does anyone know if this will directly replace the round chrome plug, that comes stock on most boats.
|
Most of the stock plugs I have seen the base is egg shaped
|
Mine is round. Maybe someone who has one can measure the base.
|
The base of the retactable one threads into the unit thru the hull. The light stays flush inside this threaded piece. You have to drill a 1 3/4" hole into the hull to acomodate the threaded piece. My boat had a round Perco base that had a 3/4" hole thru hull. The new hole was alot larger and even the 3 screw holes were covered by the new base. Eddie sells either a white or chrome base.
|
I was gonna order one with my new boat but was talked out of it due to the many problems encountered after a year or so of use. The problem is as stated in earlier posts, is if it's grabbed and broke and you're fed up with replacing a fairly expensive light, the holes are much bigger than say the Perko's. This means if you decide to go back to the trusty standards you're left with a much bigger hole to deal with.
Otherwise a neat concept... |
