workdreaming: 80k what would U get?

If you had 80k to spend on a boat (with family in-mind) what would U get and why? how would you power it? new or used, mild or wild! Lets see some day dreaming ideas!

Sydwayz 04-28-2004 05:51 PM

I'd buy my 26' Sonic for $50K and have $30K left over for a blower and gas. :D :D

Somthing like this. Plenty of power and room to weekend on the boat but still towable for trips to the Keys in January and Traverse City in July :D

I have a family we spend Friday to Sunday on the boat and I had that kind of budget for a boat last year.

We bought a Cafe put 130 hours last season and had a good year from working hard sold it for a profit because it was a "Cigarette", and moved on.

The line I heard on the phone from every potential buyer was "I have a *** and always wanted a Cigarette" I got two offers at the price I paid refused and finally one for a little profit then Thank You.

Never let someone tell you a Cigarette is expensive, you know how expensive boats are once you have sold it.

Cignificant Other's Cigarette.

mirageman 04-28-2004 06:05 PM

All of those are awesome! That Baja is a beast!!!!!!
Lucky your boat is awesome, and Sydwayz your boat kick ass as well!
Both your boats should sell very soon, as both are in very good condition, in fact I have been watching your ads! Gotta love OSO!

I figure I could tow max of 8000 pounds with my 01 Yukon. What would be under that weight range?

mirageman 04-28-2004 06:06 PM

I have always loved cigs but worried about trying to get a used one financed. I have seen the ad for the 01 Cig Mistyque for 82K.

I saw that boat at Shooters a couple of weeks ago. It looks exactly like a Gun but shorter.

I wouldn't worry about getting an older boat financed. I don't think it's a prob. I'll make ya a hell of a deal on our Gun. :D :D

I have always broke under Peer Pressure! :)
Dude, I love your boat!
I won't have cash available till September and I don't know if my 2001 GMC YUkon with 5.3L could tow it!
It is a beautiful boat!

lucky strike 04-28-2004 06:17 PM

Our Gun is pretty light. It is carbon fiber. I bet it weighs around 9500 lbs.

LS JR.

mirageman 04-28-2004 06:20 PM

That is damn light for a 38!!!!!

lucky strike 04-28-2004 06:22 PM

HELL YEAH. That is why we bought it. Very light boat with rather little engines (525 Hawks) can get you over 70.

No doubt about it, my choice would be Dangerkitty. It's big enough to take some serious water, fast enough to run with most V hulls, small enough to trailer, relatively economical to run, and purely reliable. You might be able to buy an older bigger boat, then you would have twins (double trouble),and most likely have to sink money into it right away.

With this one, turn the key and let the fun begin!:D

get the mystique

LOOKS LIKE A BOAT THAT WAS ON LAKE CUMBERLAND FOR A WHILE. THE OWNER KEPT IT IN "10"SHAPE ALWAYS.

LapseofReason 04-28-2004 08:23 PM

I would us the cash to freshen the motors in the boat I just bought this winter.

rainmn 04-28-2004 08:36 PM

I just saw the ad for that Mystique the other day. If I had $80K to spend, that would be the boat for many reasons:
It's a Cigarette.
Craig Barrie is selling it.
It's only 3 years old.
16 hrs. on fresh, stock, fuel injected reliable power.
Not to mention, I really like the looks of it.
For me, it would be the perfect boat...if I only had $80K to spare right now.

I'll sell you a new 24ft Liberator with a pair of 300x's for $89,900

JnT 04-28-2004 09:00 PM

Too Old,I know the Sutphen is going to be water tested before selling it.You need to shock everyone with some pics!:) :)

Hot Duck 04-28-2004 09:01 PM

The Mystique is an awesome boat, but for the same money you can get this 28' Pantera brand new. That is, if Too Old still has it.

28' Pantera

If this Pantera is gone, go for the Mystique!

:D

dockrocker 04-28-2004 09:43 PM

Lots of boats right here on OSO for that amout of change. TimG's 99 Pantera 28, twin 502s; Sean's 88 Cig Cafe with fresh 540s; ActiveThunderTodd's 32 AT is not too far above that, and he's looking for offers; Too Old's unpowered never been wet 39 Sutphen. Probably a lot of others as well...

mirageman 04-28-2004 10:38 PM

LMAO---Too Old, I can't even think about that Sutphen until it gets in the water, and OSO has pictures to document the event! Plus I think there are others around here with cash in hand waiting for it to be posted in the classifieds!
CAP071--I talked to the toothless owners, nice folks. He said for 13,500 he would throw in his 400 pound princess wife....Sounds kinda freaky, So I called South Florida Trailers to get a quote, they hung up on me....so much for the wife....Er, I mean boat.
There are so many boats that I love on this list already!
I love all these boats!
Whatever I get will have to be towable by a 01 Yukon with 5.3L and I think 8000 pounds towing.
For new boats I like the Superboat 30y2k. You can pick one up for 49K with 496/375 h.p. and will do 68
For used boats I love them all....
I like the Mystique, Sydwaze's 26' Sonic, Tim G's 28' Pantera, Dangerkitties 28' Pantera, Too Olds Pantera/Sutphen
These lists are awesome! Really lets people know what is available that might be looking!
What else????

Mr. Demeanor 04-28-2004 10:46 PM

Go to boattrader and just put in your price point and put the word "performance" in th keyword section. You will see allot of different boats that way.
