Default Drill pump safe for fuel...

I want to drain the rest of the tank on the Sonic. Anyone know where I can pick up a relatively inexpensive but worthwhile pump that is safe for pumping fuel?

The drill pump itself is OK for fuel. It's the sparks generated by the drill you have to worry about. You dont want to make a flame thrower!

BTW, I've got a $30 carter electric fuel pump for jobs like that. Most auto parts stores will have them.

I have used the drill pumps successfully. They do take a while though.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I bought one of those siphon tubes that has a check ball in it. You shake the tube ( ya, it looks like your wackin it) it it gets the siphon started. I had to drain 100 gallons of old fuel when my boat was in extended storage. I had all the neighbors show up with their lawn mower gas cans and they were all appreciative. Its a good size hose and works well. Nice to have around and you don't need an outlet if you ever need a few gallons out of the tank for your own mower. I pull the sending unit and go straight into the tank.

By the way, at 6 pounds a gallon is it really worth the effort. What are you towing with and how much?
