Looking for the history or pics of the 28 Skater race boat Body Guard or Jaws.

mmwalters 05-03-2004 11:39 AM

I believe his old boat was a 28

Is this the same team? Owner?

dyno 05-03-2004 12:24 PM

Here is a shot of Bodyguard from the Ocean City race in 1995.

Tantrum 05-03-2004 03:18 PM

I think I was mistaken on the Jaws boat. I thought they ran a 28 Skater at some point.
The pics above of Body shot are the ones I am interested in.
Does anyone know the history of that boat? How many seasons did it race, who rigged it, re-rigged it ect?

The Menace 05-03-2004 03:23 PM

Jaws

DYNO:

The 46 skater race boat is in GR Michigan, the 48 pleasue boat was in Bonita but now I believe it is in Michigan as well.

otis311 05-03-2004 03:37 PM

I've only seen the race boat lately but stop at Wesco now and then bet I'll run into it soon!

Tantrum,

Actually you are not mistaken. The Bodyguard 28 skater that HotDuck posted was the original 28skater that was later sold to the guys that ran a 30' phantom with twin Mercs on the back of it. I do remember seeing them with the 28 at a few races but not to many. They also had a 32' Superboat I believe. Try Darren Luhr's website, he has many picks from the old New Jersey Races on file on that site. If I get a chance to find some for you I will post them.

Tantrum I believe Jaws did run a 28' skater back eather
US Offshore or /and APBA . I think they progressed through different classes and hulls over the years.
Al F. out of NY owned Body guard and also had a few different boats . The last one being a state of the art
skater duel canopy witch he ran then believed sold the team.
Both were Great teams and ran each event hard. Jo

Tantrum,

The JAWS boat pictured above is the SUPERBOAT Cat I told you about this morning. After they raced it, they sold it and bought the above BODY GUARD and renamed it JAWS. The BIG JAWS they are referring to is the one that runs in OPEN/SUPERBOAT Class.

S-69 BodyGuard, most recently this canopied Skater, was recently sold overseas. Mark House, of VA, aka 'skater' of OSO, is currently looking into another class of boat racing.

Tantrum 05-04-2004 07:56 AM

The boat in post #3 and #5 is the one Im interested in finding info about.
Does anyone know who ownes it now?
Is Al F an OSO member? How do I get in touch with him?

Shane 05-04-2004 08:13 AM

Al Faela does not own it any longer. I believe it is owned by Dave Horstman. He live in NJ and I believe owns a recycling business of sorts.

The canopied boat above is a one off 30 footer with a widened tunnel.

1waterboy1 05-05-2004 12:21 AM

I think Shane is right, Dave H. still owns the boat and I think it is in East Hanover, NJ.I know someone who can find out whats up with it if your that interested.

kimmillers 11-15-2011 06:52 PM

I have pics of the boat from 1999 w al and jeff sitting on it if you are still interested

TeamSaris 11-24-2011 10:52 PM

Chris we originally built and rigged the 28 that won A LOT of races

DPT MOTORSPORTS 11-25-2011 09:58 AM

If my memory serves me correct I think the 30" Canopy boat pictured above went over seas.

DPT MOTORSPORTS 11-25-2011 10:00 AM

I know the 28' was later sold to the Jaws team and was raced a few times by then. A local friend who owns a marina in my area did a few powerheads for the Jaws team.
