1999 35 Fountain Cracked fuel tank

Its 95 deg in Califorina and my fuel tank is cracked!!!! Anybody ever had to deal with this?? Fountain says my warranty for the tank is 5 yrs from date of invoice to dealer. I bought in mar of 99. They say NO to warranty but they will send me a tank. Big deal!!! 600.00 tank and 12000.00$ to put it in!!! Any input would be great.

I was aboard a 1997 35' Fountain when we ruptured the fuel tank and crack a stringer. The boat went to Teague i believe and came back excellent. Had to cut and pull the floor. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

your out of warranty by roughly 2 months:(
maybe the crack accured 3 months back......
would the right mechanic come to the same conclusion?

I would pursue this vigerously at only 2 months over.

You should go to the top as best you can my theory the more someone makes the more they have at stake, and more likely they are to care. Also remember technically you're over and they can probably get around helping you if they really want to, so be nice and use words like "loyal customer" explain that the crack was found in a pre-season inspection and must have occurred last fall before it was put up for the winter or whatever. Also explain the effect it will have on your future opinion of the company and likeliness to buy another brand new boat in the future. Just don't "show your ass" because the situation sounds to me like its pretty much up to them. I think if you find a good person to work with either through a dealer or at Fountain you will have good luck with the cool head approach.

Invoice to Dealer? Is this something new? That is a bunch of BS.

Thanks for the input. Found out that gas tank warranty is from date of boat built not dealer invoice which makes it even older. Thay say my gas tank is 1 year out of warranty?? This is crazy!! should't your warranty start when you buy the boat ?? I just don't get it
