Angry Trueth In Advertising!!!

Well yesterday instead of working on my Formula all day I took a drive down to VA in hopes to buy a 16 Donzi. We left at noon and got there at 7:45 to look at the boat. In conversations with the owner I had asked him the condition of the boat and so on. He told me that there were some small cracks hear and there and that the boat was good but the drive needed work. Well..... when we got there I was VERY disapointed to say the leaste. The hull had two cracks at the back of the lifting strakes that went though as you could see the bilge water leaking out!!!! The drive was smoked, and the cracks..... THEY WERE ALL OVER and FLAKING OFF!!! This thing was a SCOW!!! Why is it that people think it is ok to be SO far off with their discription. Oh ya to top it off the thing was wet and the moisture meter pined no mater were I put it on the boat and one cylinder in the motor was down...... Oh well back home to get back to work on my project, no need for TWO of them.....

Biggus knows were there is one in my back yard that he says is in great shape so I hope to look at it this week.

Jon

Did you thank him for the 16 hour round trip?

I would have been out of my mind.

Sounds like when I flew from Philly to Jackson Miss. few weeks after 9/11 to buy a 29 Baja Outlaw. talk about pure Bull Crap. Then the jerk wouldn't budge on the price. I was willing to take it and dump Money into it just not at his asking price. what a waste of travel money and my time.

I was TOTALLY out of my mind but kept my cool with the guy. I just find it amazing that some one can tell you that a boat is in great shape when it is NOT.

Talkin' about truth in advertising... Have you read some of Fountain's Advertising in Power Boat Magazine etc. They are very tricky with their wording. If you are not very careful, you could easily be fooled. I remember one Fountain ad that advertised a 35' Executioner (a budget minded boat) for a very reasonable amount, but the picture directly above displayed a gorgeous 38' Lighting (a much better boat with an awesome paint job). If you weren't paying attention, you would have run right down to your local dealer and plucked some hard cash on the boat.
