105mph with 900's!! That's pretty impressive considering the non-stepped tiger would run around 85-90 at best with that power......and T2X doesn't think stepps do anything!!!!

Didn't they take the rocker out of the bottom with the X version, or was that I different model. I remember reading that they made it with no rocker because the hull is designed to run with speedmasters and the original 42 had rocker which made it run better with Bravo's?????

I run 82 with about 625 HP in a non step Tiger, 900's I bet would go deep into the nineties with the appropriate drivetrane, Kenny Boyce in California with 900SC's hits over 100 in a straight bottom. Ken's 900's might be massaged a little but I bet that 42x hits faster than 105.

That is correct. They also added a third step. It is smaller than the main two steps. The new hull is more like the Rough Rider bottom.

I personally saw 99.9 on GPS in Havasu (90 degrees/flat water/elevation factor) with 8 people on board and full of fuel on Kenny's Tiger!!! However, his motors are massaged a bit :drink:

Kind've funny story too since he let some 30' Magic or something run past us at about 85mph with everyone on that boat waving as they went by. When we passed them at near 100 we waved back but it was odd how they didn't wave again  :D

I've also run 92 on gps in Jims old Green and yellow Tiger @ Havasu. Those motors were stock 900 SC's w/6's as well. It would appear the new Tiger pictured is a good 13mph faster than a conventinal bottom w/same power. That is impressive!

Well here is Don on the bow of his first race boat Claudia and then the 46' American Muscle. ( My personal favorite). They are all classics!

I've also ridden with Kenny many times and have run along side (and behind) pushing him. Besides the fact that Kenny has a very good throttle hand, he understands and studies the dynamics of trim. Let's not forget, his boat was dialed in by Tres and we all know he can get the last drop of speed out of a Cigarette.

... and his engines are stock

GLH, your right, Okay, i'm off a little bit. Kenny's boat was dialed in by Tres Martin, so you know that added 3-8mph extra!! The real point of my post was how amazing the difference the steps are making.

That paint job is beautiful. The top deck is just awesome and the logo is great. Boxes would be the next step. Some day I will be able to own one of those, it may be a few years old but timeless design always is in style. :) I was told the Active Thunder is a splash of the cig, is there any truth, it would make sense as the AT rides great. I see 80 with 502/500s and 136s. Boxes would be next. With 23s I bet I could see 85, I saw 83 at 46deg with 25s.

"American Muscle" is one hell of a boat. Got to see that at the PRA Spring Poker Run out of Sarasota a couple months ago. One hell of a ride.

American Muscle is the best of Mercury and the best of Cigarette. I don't think anything can compete with it in any possible way. It has all the bases covered.

Not that American Muscle isnt awesome. But I can think of another boat with 1075's that has that boat covered.

They usually go that when Zulberger sends them 900s.I think the fastest was 105.We did a normally aspirated pair of 825s that broke 100 in a Lipship edition with#6s.

The #1 42X – Set to Xcellerate!

It’s finally Springtime in Missouri and Kevin Brandes is a happy man. All he needs now is time to enjoy his new Cigarette, a 42X. Make that THE 42X. Brandes just purchased the #1 hull of the new trend-setter 42’ Cigarette that has become the most popular new boat in the Cigarette Racing Team™ line.

As customers increasingly showed an interest in bigger boats with bigger power, Cigarette looked at its line up and decided that 42’ was the ideal size with which to exercise some creativity. The company developed a new hull and deck to accommodate the staggered engines that had become so popular with the Gladiator. The new 42X quietly made its debut as an Xperiment on the 2003 Poker Run circuit and Cigarette’s Neill Hernandez and Skip Braver gave the boat a workout on rough and calm waters, from the fog of Grand Haven to the smooth waters of Lake Cumberland. “We may have introduced it quietly,” said Neill Hernandez, Executive VP, “But by the end of the season, everyone was talking about this boat!”

Brandes, a former Top Gun owner had previously worked with Lip Ship Performance’s Phil Lipschutz, so as he considered beaching his Apache, he called on Philly for advice on what was new for Cigarette. Lipschutz, in typical fashion, added his special Lip Ship Edition touches to the Cigarette 42X, then Brandes took the boat back to his home state of Missouri for painting. It seems an old high school buddy, Mark Morris, had made a niche for himself in the custom painting business there, putting his “Visual Imagination” (the company name) to the test on boats and buses for the stars. The two dreamed up a multi-hued design that resembles vivid sunrises and sunsets. The Cigarette oval appears to be in the eye of a hurricane and paint details literally shimmer. Many coats of paint and clear coat give the boat a 3-D effect and the name, “Xcelerator” is ghosted in bright yellow, tone-on-tone.

Deep blue accents will make the boat look like it is flying on the water—which it will with twin 900 Mercury engines. This boat has been clocked at 105 mph already. “I know it’s been set-up right!” says Brandes.

The new boat will make its home at the Lake of Ozarks on Osage Beach, the site of the annual Shoot Out. Look for Brandes to be there—“They’ll all be wanting to see what she can do!” he says with an audible grin. All he needs is to get some good weather and a little time…

my good man glh got this from cig site, i don't go there because i like fast boats... :D
