Question Does anyone know this 33 Daytona?

I was at Havasu this weekend and took a test drive on this 33 Daytona. It has New York registration numbers and tags on it. I am interested in the boat, but would like to talk with the previous owner, or anyone who may have any info on the boat.

According to the sales folks at Eliminator, the previous owner traded the boat in on a new 27 Daytona (Something about the 33 not fitting down the launch ramp at his new lake home). It has twin 600ci Merlin motors putting out 960 HP each, is impeccably rigged, has a brand new Zeiman trailer, and appears to be in overall excellent condition. They claim the boat spent two weeks at Lake X being dialed in. It We ran the boat up to the 6000 RPM rev limiters at about 3/4 throttle before we ran out of prop at 113 MPH. I'm a bit concerned with what they're telling me. I would think that if this boat spent that kind of time at Lake X with the Merc folks, we should not have been banging the rev limiter due to lack of prop.

Anyone input or info on this boat would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the boat was rigged in Columbus, OH at PRI. Performance Research Inc. They advertise in Hot Boat or Powerboat Magazine.

Nice looking boat! I remember reading that the 33 Daytone had a porpoise proble. I don't know if some of them have had bottom work to correct this or not. It seems like there were a few on this board that were discussing the 33 a couple of years ago, but I don't remember for sure what the concensus was.

Gee that was no help at all! I'll look for a thread for you.

I noticed that too at speed. At 95 and above it seemed to "bounce" as opposed to a nice even floating that I've always thaought a big cat should have for a ride. Any 33 Daytona owners out there to give me some input???

Funny! I don't know the Daytona, but the boat behind it was a boat I owned 3 years ago. Cool!!!

I and the sales folk agree on that. They estimate 135-140 if propped right. That's why I'm curious if it is true the boat was at Lake X. If so, one would think they could dial it in. If this is the best they could do, maybe there is a handling problem inherent in this hull? Sure would like to know before taking the plunge on this baby.

NNY boat and everything you posted is true. No expense spared. Very fussy owner who needed to downsize. So the "correct" props are missing, is that anything new in the used boat biz?
