I've read Thunderboat Row, and Speed Kills. This is the first time I saw this and questioned if it was the truth? Last time I checked this was an offshore board for asking questions about offshore, history included.

Where did I say this was the truth? I asked if it was.

Scott, I had expected your post. If I saw something I hadn't read before, should I automatically assume it is false?

That was my last post before I checked PM messages. Decided to delete it.

To the people mentioned in the article. If you took offense to it, I am sorry. I didnt mean to make anyone mad. First time I saw the info, just wondered if it was true.

Thats a funny article. Whoever wrote it is a moron, someone should smack some sense into them.
I dont think you were wrong to ask that question and whoever blew up just overreacted, dont sweat it.

To be honest in this case yes! You answered your own question look at your sources that you have already read, now look at the source that you are questioning?
You have been on board long enough to know the simple answer about Kieth and Bobby and should of known what type of reaction you would get. I am guessing that your PM box was off the hook.

Never assume an internet thread contains accurate information. The writer did not even state his name.

Although some of what he wrote correlates with more reliable sources, a lot of the details are contrary to documented facts. " Source:self "????

Scott, I dont remember any books saying much about Bobby or Keith. If I knew the answer I wouldnt have posted.

I'd be willing to bet that years ago they probably did get upset. But at some point you've got to learn to laugh at it or it will probably eat you up. I suspect that's where they are.

On the bright side (cuz there always is one), he posed a question that was in his mind. He got his answer and now he knows they're decent people. And they didn't even have to stick up for themselves, the people of the board did it for them. Another case of mis-information being corrected.

It just shows the freedom of speech also means freedom of stupidity. Tabloids, Newsletters and even the mainstream press when wanting to fulfill a political agenda will print anything w/o any concern of its accuracy. You read the Freeper site and the fact you’re a member of OSO you know how false it was. This kind of reporting goes on every day, and you accept it as reported. Unless you have some big bones in your wallet there is nothing you can do to correct them. If you do manage to get them to correct it, you can bet that it won't be done so until the next big news day and it will be buried in the paper so deep it will never be read.

First I like to say Thanks to all the members that are looking out for my best interest. The person that started the original opening thread (HypaBaha Tommy) was respectful by sending me a PM, he said, if I were offended he would pull the thread down immediately. My reply to Tommy was, if I were offended you would have heard about it by now.
Further more I told him that it was his call to keep the thread up or take it down, I think the OSO board was getting a kick out of it and realized how stupid it was from the start.
I myself posted a couple of times and made a joke out of it.

I think the one that hit the nail on the head was; Bonnie Outlaw who posted;

I have seen that particular website years back and thought it was a joke then, somebody shooting off their mount with no back up and not knowing what they are talking about.

You just have to look at it, on face value and laugh. We all know by now, that we don’t live in a perfect world and can’t control what some people will say especially on the Internet. We see it time and time again, even here on our board.

Actually Free Republic dot com is pretty far right/libertarian. The post was from somewhere else and was a Bush basher trying to connect GHW Bush with drug running-this is old stuff, but out there. GHW was pals with Don and that is a fact, the rest is just snippets from different events and actions-mostly BS.

2 years ago when I bought my "new" 1976 Cigarette Awesome I started doing research on the internet.Looking up Cigarette Boats & Don Aronow.
I was intrigued by the whole thing.
Living in the midwest I had no exposure to this whole Offshore thing & am only begining now.
Anyway, if you search Don Aronow on the internet,there is a wacko thing that comes up.
It's called "The unauthorized Biography of George Bush" it is the biggest Bush bashing thing I ever saw. It makes a connection to Don Aronow as to George Bush Senior "driving a gas guzzling,noisey Cigarette Boat",instead of a "nice non polluting quiet sail boat".
It lists Don as one of George's friends & portrays Don as making his money off of the Mafia in New Jersey and then smuggling drugs in FLA.
It also says that is why US Customs awarded the contract to build the Blue Thunder Cat's for them. It wasn't very complimentary on their performance either LOL!
Anyway it's out there & if you read more of it,it becomes more & more B.S.

WOW There's Mafia in NJ? And people smuggle drugs in Hi-Po Boats? Who would have thought such a thing. WOW Then take a guy from NJ and move him to Fla to build Hi-Po Boats And then take a guy who screwed them, and a Mysterious death! WOW Crazy stuff here. :stupid:

The "pres" at that time was into fast boats like some like golf. Aronow was a link to getting some cutting edge boating fun in with and maybe talking shop about building a few for defense purposes as well. I will bet the rest was just as much a shock to the "pres" as it was to everyone else. More questions than answers and more speculation than the two put together.
