Trailer Hitches

Re: Trailer Hitches
We are switching from the pintle hook to the ball because it is a tighter connection. There was too much "give and take" with the pintle which made for a bouncy ride. The manufacturer doesn't have a ball mount...figure that out?
Thanks for the replies, hope to see everyone at the first Silver Cup Series Race on June 5th and 6th and at the Oshkosh Thunder Poker Run (www.oshkoshthunder.com) the following weekend. I'll keep looking.

Re: Trailer Hitches
PAir-a-dice, I love that trailer . I have a 39' cat that's almost 12' wide and was thinking of doing a trailer like that . what do you think of it so far ? Do you worry about stress or cracks on the sponsons hanging it on it's side ? How wide is your boats beam ? And how wide and tall is it when loaded ? Sorry for all the questions but I am very interested . Hauling 12' wide down the road is not much fun .... Thanks , Joe

Re: Trailer Hitches
Pair a dice, try Tom's Trailers in Menomonee Falls, I have a 10,000lb ball mount made by Curt manufacturing in Eau Claire that I bought from them.
When they go to the higher weight rating the ball mount is a solid piece of stock rather than being a tube. If Tom's does'nt have them you could probably Call Curt direct. Sorry I don't have the phone numbers for either of them, but you should be able to get it from information.
See you at the Oshkosh Thunder run.

Re: Trailer Hitches
Even though the end plates have been welded to the frame what is the weight capacity of the cross beam? I have never seen a 2" hitch that was rated for over 15,000. All the bigger hithches I have seen have been 2 1/2" slug. I am no expert, but I did a fair amount of research as my boat & trailer weigh over 16,000. If I'm wrong please correct me.
