Hull Stains
What's up with the dirty water in NY (LI Sound)?
My boat is lifted out of the water all the time. But just from idling around a bit, my hull has a light brown stain from the waterline down. How do I remove it, and is it worth it? If it only takes an hour for this stain to take hold, it'll come back all the time. How about any prevention so it doesn't stick. |
Re: Hull Stains
you could always put bottom paint on it:D:D:D I get the same thing here on lake erie i just use black streak remover spray it on and the stains wipe right off 15 minutes and your done.

Re: Hull Stains
Star brite hull cleaner in a spray bottle and a hose. More mild than some others and works well.

Re: Hull Stains
Have used the hull cleaner from West Marine. Is not real bad to use and just wipe on with a sponge and let it sit for 2-3 minutes and spray off. Not sure how to prevent it from happening...perhaps a good coat of wax after the hull cleaner would help at least initially until the wax wears off. I usually do the hull on mine twice per year. Oh yeah, my boat is trailered and not in the water or on a lift.

Re: Hull Stains
"Kaboom" works but once you start you have to do it everytime. Ran into that last year.

Ditto on the Ringo from Vyper340.
it is the best! |
Re: Hull Stains
I had the same thing when I was working on the trailer and had to leave the boat in the water for a week. It was a horrible yellow. I used On & Off from West Marine. It just wiped off with very little effort, and it took the surface off the driveway where it dripped full strenght. Otherwise it did not hurt anything, just don't breath it in.
