I think you are being responsible looking for a DD. I do think you may have a few too many people on the boat but if it is well within the rated limits and you leave later in the day then you "should" be ok but please leave some room for error.
Good luck with your search.

mpally- damn, some people have the panties in a bunch!!! use your head, keep the weight in the back and forward movement and you'll be fine. just as tbone said, arrive early, leave late and pack light....that also means no fatties!!! sounds like good times to me....

I'm just wondering what boater on this website would waste a Saturday of a holiday weekend ferrying around non-boaters in a rental pontoon?

Imagine if a storm whips up. People are going to haul ass out of PC, the water is going to get huge, and THEN, you have the storm to deal with.
Water get Huge??? at LOTO??? what do you consider "HUGE"
here on Lake Michigan HUGE is anything over 10 feet
5 to 6 is just a reson to fire up the boat

I wouldn't make fun of the wakes/waves at LOTO near the party cove. I have been there many times and I have seen the owners of 38 Cigs etc. have a strange look on their face when faced with 8-10 ft washing machine slop and boats all around them. I run a 24 footer and I have been on Lk Michigan in 6-8 footers and I had an easier time navigating that compared to the boat wakes made by all the boats coming/going to the Party Cove. It must be seen to be appreciated. On a good weekend there are 30-50 foot Searays etc all leaving at the same time, plus the water is deep, around 70 feet. I have crossed from Chicago to St. Joe and the deepest we saw was 95 feet, even though no shoreline was visible.
I am glad I am not going this weekend because I don't want to be near/witness that pontoon going to the bottom, because it will happen.

Imagine those 5-6' waves coming from 4 different directions crashing together. Yeah a 5-6 footer coming from one direction is like a well stirred barge wake here on the Mississippi, a piece of cake

I think the Idea sounds worse than it is. I'm sure you guys will be responsible just don't get so F-ed up that you can't function if you guys get into a bad situation. Theres a big difference between getting too buzzed to drive legally and getting hammered to the piont of retardation. my .02 If I lived closed I'd do it, sorry.
