Stainless steel threaded couplings for filter relocation
1 Attachment(s)
A short while ago I replaced the stock Merc fuel/water seperator filters with the Racorp units that feature a drain plug. These new units are longer so I couldn't mount them in the stock location as they would not clear the fuel pump. I wanted to KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) this project. So I went to the machine shop and had them make me up four 2 inch threaded couplings. I then wrenched them onto the threaded posts that the filter bracket mounts two which moved the bracket out and away from the fuel pump. Seems to have worked well. The filters have not had gas in them yet because I am replacing my manifolds and risers with Thunder EMI units thanks to our very own Too Old.

Re: Stainless steel threaded couplings for filter relocation
Would a standard 2" 304L full coupling work? Those machined couplings look expensive. A standard coupling is $14.00.

Re: Stainless steel threaded couplings for filter relocation
I needed a 5/16th, 24 (I think) fine thread. The problem in getting one from my fastener supplier was the fine thread. Ended up trying about six suppliers. No one had it in their catelogs and couldn't find anyone to order them from. If it was a course thread, could have gotten it for ten bucks each. So off to the machine shop and it was expensive 25 bucks each.

Sounds like you got out cheap.
