We can give you both performance and ammenities in a 28 that is more than most 30's out there and you won't be afraid of going to the ocean.

I had a 24 Superboat w/ twin 2.5s. Boat ran great and loved the rough water. I would buy a Y2K in a second over a Sunsation. Just my .02. Good luck either way.

Here's my .02

I never rode in a 30Y2K but I've been in a 288 Sunsation. If performance is you main goal, I think the Superboat wins hands down. The 288 I rode in has close to 600 HP and runs 78 on it's best day. The Y2K can do that with 500 HP. The 288 definitly has a nicer cabin, interior, etc. if ammenities are your thing.

I don't know why people get so stuck on the 7' beam thing. You loose a little passenger capacity but gain a lot of performance. I have a '24 Superboat so I am familiar with the handling of a 7' wide boat.

I don't know what your budget is either but the Y2K rigged with all the good stuff is probably less $$ than a base model 288. If you looking for used, a Y2K will be much harder to find.

Thanks to all.
I started lookin at Sonic then Active Thunder. Love them both but the Sonic seems to be slower and the Active is higher priced also. I'm lookin at a new Y2k or a slightly used Sunsation. If I found an Active slightly used for a good deal I'd buy it. I'm planning on building my own blown engine for a 90+ mph boat for under 75K.

john is a good guy and biulds a good boat. Never driven a y2k but checked one out at his shop and it looked damn good. He generally keep sthe interiors pretty sparse on his boats though. Biult to run and not break the bank. I think the y2k is gonna be better biult and a better performer for less money. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I contacted A.T. about a 28 3 months ago, and it was approx. 25,000 more than the Sunsation with less options, and a whole hell of a lot more than the Y2k,,, plus there was over a year wait..

we went with the 288...

I like the Superboat. Fast, light, well-built and inexpensive! Very good-looking, too.

My buddy Krakmeup's boat is being built right now. He made a shop visit a couple of weeks ago, and he was VERY impressed!
