Final inspection before shipping
3 Attachment(s)
Went to the the Factory for the last time (for this boat anyway) to go over everything before shipping.
Cigarette has been fantastic to work with. They did everything I asked for no matter how out of the ordinary. The first paint scheme just wasn't right and Gus and Neill worked with me to make it how it is now. I have owned three boats. All three were custom ordered. This was the best customer experience I have ever had in the marine industry! The quality of construction is beyond compare. Now for pics. Bear with me, I am showing off our new baby! |

These guys were fantastic. They were very professional. I did catch them on "casual Friday" though. Never thought I would say this but I am the tall one.
I will happily do business with them again! |

Re: Final inspection before shipping
Congratulations on your new boat! It`s great to hear of a company that goes the extra distance to make the purchase of a boat a pleasurable experience.

I can't stress this enough. Every time I wanted to do something different like the Red gel coat bottom, swapping the sides the engines were on, cutting the wind deflector to a custom shape or changing the paint scheme half way though production, the reaction was always the same, "no problem" "what ever you want". I am SO used to "you don't want to do that" "it will ruin the boat" or the classic "OK, but it will cost you". Never once heard any of that. PS. Also need to thank Myco, Phil Lipshultz and Bob Luellen. They all worked to make this a great experience, but is Cigarette is simply the best. |
Re: Final inspection before shipping
And if the rumors are correct, there will be a set of fresh 525's for sale soon, eh? :D
Suh-weeeeet ride, 2112!! |
Re: Final inspection before shipping
I don't know about him selling those 525's "Dock"
In 2002, Cigarette made a change to the 2001 Gladiator, staggering the engines and featuring Mercury 525's. The boat was originally built with twin 500 EFI's and made speeds of about 90 mph. Though the boat can still be purchased with side-by-side engines, Cigarette believes the balance, handling and speed of the boat are improved with the staggered configuration of 525's. Gladiator owners look for at least 94 mph with this new, updated model. 94 mph on 525 EFI's way to go 2112! |
Re: Final inspection before shipping
Actually I am selling the 525's because I am a Die Hard Ford man and I plan to use two BB Fords. Maybe even with Boss 429 heads (For the looks, no real HP advantage in my application).
Thanks for the compliments guys! |
Re: Final inspection before shipping
Looks great,
When will you have the motors changed and be in the water, would love to see your boat in the water. Have you heard about www.nwoffshore.com ? There are a few local events in this area that are alot of fun. Caleb |

There are a few local events in this area that are alot of fun. Caleb I will be in my (blue)Fountain this summer since it takes a lot of time to do all the custom fabricating of Ford running gear. Yes I have been on that site just not for a while, should check in again. Name there is "Permanent Waves" (Fountain's name). My first boat was a (blue)Warlock 24 euro. Had I realized how well that boat was constructed, as I now do, I would have kept it. I bought it from Tom Davidson in Seattle in 1991, He is a great Guy. |
Re: Final inspection before shipping
This dude goes through 525's like I go through shirts! Must be nice!
|
Re: Final inspection before shipping
Me or Troutly?
I don't go through them, I just don't prefer to use them even though they are pretty dang nice packages closed cooling, EFI and all. Selling them helps me fund my real objective, Power by Ford. My Fountain is does not have a high enough value to drop them in for a sale there either. |
Re: Final inspection before shipping

GLH!
I was waiting for your input. Thanks for the compliment BTW. You know, I just got to be me, an oddball if not unique. |

Re: Final inspection before shipping
Had it been BB chev power you bet. with Fords there is too much custom fabricating to make it cost effective for a factory to do it. With power, the drives and transom assemblies are a better buy and there is a lot of rigging already done for you.
And you have something worth using to re-power an old boat or sell outright. |
