Great question....... in reality we should limit the ability of poor or amateurish drivers to get behind the wheel of things they can't handle. We do it with aircraft....but at a great cost in licensing and government control. Certainly the very industry that depends on a free minimally regulated market to exist....should self police...and recognise/admit that it has a problem.... rather than trumpeting ridiculous 170 mph speeds....... to people who can afford to go that fast...... and kill themselves.

If the US Guvmint does indeed step in and start taking away our rights to enjoy speed...it will have more to do with irresponsible operation and recklessness than the stepped hull design.....Lets face facts....the bottom line is that before the average guy with no prior high performance experience goes out and purchases ANY high performance boat...he should be REQUIRED to get some training......and common sense goes a long way.....I wouldnt take an offroad vehicle to a road race track and expect to hang with the homeys in the hairpins.....but hey...that is just me..... :rolleyes:

Yeah...We can all agree on that....but, why increase the degree of difficulty for questionable reasons? A Ferrari would be faster on nitrous oxide and methanol....... but for some obscure reason the factory doesn't provide that as an option.

Silly EYE Talians.

In this case we have a "trend" (everybody's doin' it , doin' it, doin' it)....that costs more to manufacture, compromises turning safety, and MAY yield a few mph .....(It may not also)......

Why bother? Spend the bucks on more durable drives.....
