I'm not a lawyer, but I've filed several claims in Broward & Palm Beach Counties over the last two years (dead-beat clients) and won every time.

Do it yourself, it's easy, and if you are in the right, you usually win, even if the other side has an attorney.

I don't think you can have an attorney in a small-claims matter.

California does not allow attorney's in Small Claims, however you can consult one and have them prepare your case.

I'm in New York and would preferably pay for counsel, besides it's against a real scumbag and I want to make sure all T's and I's get crossed
