Hee-hee-hee.... Gotta admit I'm getting more of a chuckle out of that one now that I re-read it.
But - It's true. He11, the thing fit in a teacup when he first got it! You have to be careful getting onto his boat; "Ginger" will come tearing up to you and lick all the sunscreen off of your ankles. 20 years later, you die of skin cancer in those areas. Vicious.
We now take you back to the regularly-scheduled subject matter of this thread:
Wasabe - Your intentions and motivations are 100% right on the money. I can't count the number of martini-sipping, chain-smoking prima donnas I've watch sit motionless on the back seat while "the man" jumps all over the boat trying to tie dock lines, hang fenders, and still keep the paint away from the pilings. With two involved, it goes faster and smoother, and leisure time starts sooner. The comfort level from the increased safety is a great thing, too. Knowing you can get "the beast" back to the dock if you have to makes for a much more relaxing day. My better half is even getting pretty good at running the chartplotter. She also knew enough about some engine issues that we had been having to call the repair guy's bluff when I was travelling, and he tried to BS her. What a woman!
Go for it, girl - You're on the right track!

Every person that I've known that owned a yorkshire terrier had their entire belongings ruined by the little bastard pissing on everything.

I gotta admit, my docking advice sounded something like that at the last poker run we were on. It was only the second time I even attempted backing that thing in with the surface drives. The first time there wasn't an audience.
One of the reason's Debbie is so helpful is the fact that she absolutely loves this stuff as much or more than I do. She knows by helping me and learning all she can, it makes it a heck of a lot easier for me, and therefore, we will go more often. Tomorrow for instance, we are taking our Minx out for the first real run. We are meeting a bunch of Donzi owners up on the Suwannee River for the weekend. It should be a blast!
To tell you the truth, her excitement makes me want to do it even more. I like pleasing her, but don't let her know that.
