Here's the deal. When I bought my boat it came with extended warranties. The company is called "Interstate dealer services" out of NY. Recently, I blew up a lower unit. My mechanic says it happened because of of the gears broke, pieces wedged between the gears and the propshaft, pushing the shaft, splitting the case and spitting the shaft, carrier and prop right out. When reported to the company they sent their adjuster out. His conclusion was really inconclusive but he stated as a theory that the cause could have been verical impact to the prop, splitting the case and spitting everything out. There however was no impact, there is no damage to the skeg or any other part of the gearcase, other motor or boat. Infact, even the reverse gear is damaged which is more consistent with my mechanic's theory than the impact theory. Bottom line is that I have argued and argued and they just keep saying they are denying the claim based on the impact theory.
They say the only way to dispute it is to go through "American Arbitrators". What should I do ?

Read your policy. They should have the process laid out step by step. If you go to the attorney now, they will forward it to legal and you'll never see the money. Took me almost 2 years to collect. Thankfully, I didn't have to pay an attorney or I would have lost even more money.

My first inclination would be to try to solve it w/o spending any money. I listen to this nation wide radio show called the troubleshooter. Hosted by Tom Martino he helps consumers in resolving conflicts with business large and small. It works too.

Go to arbitration. No matter what you say, they'll deny your claim.

Better bring 4 or 5 written outdrive surveys with you.
