Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
I am seriously considering supercharging my H2. Anyone with personal experience or knowledge please share your ideas and thoughts. Which would be the best product that produces the most reliability and power gains? I have no problems upgrading anything that needs to be upgraded to achieve my goal. I have seen the superchargers that come as a single unit with the intake manifold. I think that's the one I prefer.

I've had a Whipple on my GM truck for 80,000 miles now and it has been absolutely flawless.

Summer O i seen your post about the new boat, are you getting it this weekend or already have it? You know the big Hot boat poker run is here this weekend 19th, That new DCB looks like it should go pretty good I wouldn't mind a ride if you are ever down we are still pondering playing with that other 30' cat i had told you about, How fast is your new boat supposed to run? Anyhow good to hear from you.

What other motor mods do have to do when installing either kit?

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
You should PM "Welladjusted." He recently supercharged his H2.

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
My son-in-law had his 2003 supercharged and was disappointed. The overall noise level was considerably higher with the revamped intake and exhaust. I was not impressed with the performance gain. Considering the overall weight it's not going anywhere fast regardless of what you do to it.
He finally decided to sell it. He's a physician in a smaller northern Michigan community and the vehicle just stood out wherever it went. There was zero interest so he finally sent it to auction in Chicago. I cannot remember what system was used but it came from a manufacturer in New York state and was installed at the dealer in Milwaukee, Wi. ed |
Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
I have the polished whipple and it was on my 03 H2. We are selling the truck so I took it off and I have the supercharger for sale on ebay. It is cool but now we are looking at heavier boats and I need a dually or a topkick. I had it for about 6 months (4K miles). After talking to everyone that I knew and researching the options I liked the whipple the best. I would also recommend the Billy Boat exhaust.

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
I highly recommend LPE/21st Century Muscle Cars. They are in Dallas and are the only branch of LPE. They have a few Hummers on the road one being a Heads/Cam/Blower setup making insane numbers. Give them a call. 972-417-7177

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
I think I would go this route if I had one. They have been a proven performance expert for many years, and the support is close to our area......

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
I really appreciate the input. I was siding with Lingenfelter. They have a great reputation and they are not too far away. Any other advise would still be greatly appreciated. My father-in-law and a close friend of mine also have H2s. I figured we do all three at the same time. I'm not looking to break any records with it, I just want a little more kick.

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
I'll see if i can find the web page but theres a company out west doing a D-max conversion for the H2's!!! they say its almost a direct bolt in with very few mods thats need to be made......that motor in that truck would be a wicked combo!!! :D

Can't go wrong with LPE! Mine was one of the first they ever did--great upgrade.

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
I can't see how an 8-PSI kit can do much for you. I mean what goals are you trying to accomplish? The H2 engines are designed for low RPM torque. You will get a big boost there but you still won't win any drag races against a normal car.

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
Agree Roy. That was the point I was trying to make in my earlier post. Plus the issue of re-sale. Just like modified engines in boats many people don't want to touch them used in cars/trucks either.

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
Personally, I like having forced induction on my toys, whether its turbos on my car or blowers on my H2 & boat, it is a preference for me and not something I do with thoughts of how the person I sell it is going to think. Sure, it's not for everyone, but do your research and make the decision for "you." I'd bet most of those reading this forum do things they like/want and to hell with what others think.
PS. My low 15 sec. H2 will outrun "some" cars in a drag race and I have a video, around here somewhere, of my friends 14 second LPE H2 outrunning a bracket racing mustang at the strip. To each his own..... |
Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
Are you guys seriously pulling your fine rigs with those plastiked-up Tahoes? :D:D:D:D

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
Buy an Excursion 6.0 PSD. Go with chip, intake, exhuast, propane, injectors, BB turbo and you will still pay less than what GL said. Then you have a truck that can control any load and beat the crap out of any gas engine. 9000lbs says it all.

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
I'm not looking to use the H2 for a tow rig. I just want extra power. I really like the vehicle and have put over $12,000 in sound and cosmetic upgrades. Resale is also not a concern. Like LPEOUTLAW mentioned earlier, we do a lot of things just cuz we like to. If resale was ever the case, I'd get out of boating! Hey LPEOUTLAW who did the install for your H2? I own a Goodyear store and will probably have my top guys do it. However, any advise would be appreciated. What did you do with exhaust and air intake? Mike

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
Being in Dallas, 21st Century Muscle Cars did the install. They are the only other LPE installer in the country, other than LPE--which you are closer to geographically, as they are in Indiana.
I feel fortunate to have met John Lingenfelter personally and to have had him drive and tune my H2 as one of the first 2 LPE did. Of course, they did it right. I have the 500hp package listed on their site, and is more than just the blower. www.lingenfelter.com RIP Big John L. |

Re: Looking to supercharge a Hummer H2
GLH, I also have a little Baja 20' Outlaw that I use the H2 to tow it locally. I would never consider towing my other boat. I had a Duramax Dually which I just had National Marine sell for me. Thats what I used for my other boats. The H2 is my daily driver.
