Oil froth is a disasterous situation...look at the right side below with Lucas added...it's froth city. Froth is air and oil forming into a useless foamy mess... the Scaaeffer's additive on the left works good however. The goal is to help the lubricants "climb" into lifters etc. not foam all over the place.
My personal opinion...save your money and buy a better premium synthetic oil that will actually do something for your offshore engine. It's all I will recommend anymore.

What's that a picture of? I'll tell you.....everybody has an opinion and an experience. I've never had that one. These are huge blower motors that I'm using that combo in. What oil temperature and pressure was the motor run to make the Lucas do that?

The product on the left did not foam under the same conditions..that's enough for me...if you like it use it...I won't so there will be on the shelf for you.

Re: POLL: which oil do you use ?
A guy who knows me laughed his butt off at my postings here and the interest that has been generated around the subject of oil...he said before reading all this he thought the oil did all the work and now feels the additives are perhaps more important than the base oil itself.
Well he is exactly about 50% right. When the anti-wear additives are contaminated or molecularly "spent" the base oil is next to near useless and breaks down fast....and vice versa...so oils with high base contant complement a great additive package.
Adding a ton of great additives to a lesser base-stock however... "is like putting perfume on a pig".

Re: POLL: which oil do you use ?
Mobil 1
Been using it for over 20 years in my Car's, Truck's, Boat's and now my H-D V-Rod. Back in the 80's I ran it in a couple of turbo car's that are very hard on oil and never had a single issue. Yukon now has 180K miles without an issue and still running storng. My Z06 had it as a factory fill and I continue that at regualr intervals.
As stated previously the only drawback is the extra price but, to me it's an investment in reliability and longevity. small price to pay and worth the little extra to me.

Re: POLL: which oil do you use ?
My best friend and I both have 575SCis with 300 hours. His is modified to 650HP; mine to 750HP.
He used Mobil 1 for the 1st 150 hrs. and switched to RP 20W50 with excellent results.
I bought mine used with 76 hours, and can't remember what the former owner used in it. I have used RP 20W50 ever since with no oil related problems. We use RP 70W90 MaxGear in our superchargers, and K&N 6002 filters. We have stuck with Merc HP semisynthetic gear oil in the Bravos, again with good results. We change oil, blower oil, and gearcase oil every 25 hours.
Some of our friends have started running RP Max Gear in their Bravos as well.
I'm not shilling for RP, it just seems to work very well for us,
plus their bottles match my boat !
Regards,
Steve

Mobil-1 seems to be a favortie because it is so widely used in autos and now in marine engines. The new formulation of 15W-50 M-1 EP is great. No surprises.
