Bird Sh!t..........
I'm considering moving my new boat over to a marina where the boat hangs on straps, covered, outside. The only problem I see is that they have a problem with it also being a bird sh!t sanctuary.
How do you keep the birds from sh!tting all over your boat/cover? The hanging owls don't seem to work. Rather, might be considered company to the birds.
Thanks,
Joe

Pellet gun. When I used to rack store my boat I spent a saturday afternoon sitting in the cabin shooting birds out of the hatch and cabin door. Eventually there were no pigeons left, although some did comment to me "the birds must be eating the chips of paint from the boats that bottom paint, it's killing the all." I just smiled and agreed

I was thinking something a bit more stealth-like. If they'd drink it.... Terpentine is always a thought! The bird lovers would have a hay-day if they saw me blasting pigeons.
Besides, I couldn't shoot a harmless duck - but could shoot the @ssholes that constantly feed them the food that runs thru them like a laxative... sh!tting all over the place.

My old neighbor used to get sick of all the duck **** around his docks, he started throwing thunderbombs and m80's at them (didn't hurt the geese) just scared the hell out of them. they stay away now, but he did this for a while.

Joe, I'm pretty sure that birds poop right away. Fast metabolism and all that.
I think it goes like this: Eat...and...poop.
(Birds don't "store" nutrients)
I would say get a dock away from trees or other sources of food, particularly purple sources of food. (nothing you can do about minnows, I suppose.)
If there are dockposts, place cone shaped object on tops of poles. That will help.
Some guys stretch long strings of fishing line across poles, (high enough to walk under), but for some reason it messes the birds up. They go away. I usually see these parallel to the water, or zig zag.
