changing oil
Is there a trick or anything I need to know about changing the oil on 500 efi with pre lubers???
|
Re: changing oil
i thought prelubing was when you called your wife before you got home and, oh nevermind.

Re: changing oil
That was funny, but seriously do I do anything different than before without the pre's??????

Re: changing oil
Well to give an update, there is nothing out of the norm to do. It was easy the only bad part is waiting for the sucker to suck the oil out. Thanks guys!

Re: changing oil
Officer Troutly Sir, I can feel for you, nothing like turning a simple job into a 3 hour clean up. What a mess. I just bought the pump on the can kit. I have hoses off the pans to get all the oil. I hope this way I can keep it in the can and off the floor :)

Matt,
How's the new boat coming along? Are you having fun with it yet? I hope so. You should come out here for the Scope run. (August 27-29) A friend of mine just bought a Tiger with 1,000's. Should be a fun ride. |
Re: changing oil
Trader, I would not have it any other way :) I did mine when they were out so it was a snap. Out the dip stick just doesn't seem to get all the oil, plus with most crap settling in the pan this will suck that first and clean out the big chunks of metal that are normal in a boat motor. Some are so big they plug the hose but most make it thru, I wonder where that metal comes from? Is this a by product of combustion? Maybe it is just normal :) :)

Re: changing oil
If you have pre lubers there should be a quick disconnect fitting between the pump and the oil filter. Disconnect it and turn on the pump.
At least that is the way mine is rigged. Quick easy changes!!! |
Re: changing oil
:D :D
Must be "Change your oil week". I just finished doing both of mine and Drive fluid changes as well. Now I have to break the law   and transport 7.5 gallons of used oil up the street to the garage!! |
Re: changing oil
Mr. Velosity, thanks I will look into that for the next time.
G, that does sound like fun I will look for air fare, I called you yesterday?? |
