Skater 32 Outboard Vs. Inboard

Considering buying a Skater 32 inboard with Mercury 525's and speedmaster 6's. I have a 2002 Skater 32, with 300 X's. I put 115 hours a year on the boat.
I'm looking for reliability.
Increased rough water performance.
I trailer the boat often.

I question:
The rebuild time of the 525's.
Are the speedmaster 6's worth the money?
Will fuel economy increase with the 525's?
Increased weight of inboards.

Is it a twin engine 32 OB or triple?

Re: Skater 32 Outboard Vs. Inboard

I have owned a 30 Motion with triple O/bs and now have a 35 Motion with twin I/O's with number sixes. The 525's will use a lot more gas. Horsepower takes a lot of gas to feed it. The number sixes are overkill with only 525's, but are bulletproof. The I/O will be better in the rough water. The O/B boats are more fun to drive. You shouild get more hours out the I/O between rebuild than the O/B's. The O/B's are a lot easier and cheaper to work on. The cool factor of the I/O is much higher at the docks. I like em both for what they are.

Re: Skater 32 Outboard Vs. Inboard

How much fuel do you burn with the I/O's?
Are they 525?
I burn 24 to 28 gallons an hour per motor with the 300 X's @ 92 to 94 MPH cruise.
When you say the O/B's are more fun....what do you mean? I was told I/O's would have huge torque and was looking foreword to some acceleration.
What is the top speed of your motion?
Are you running four or five blade props? What brand? What was the cost of the props?
Thanks for your response

Re: Skater 32 Outboard Vs. Inboard

I am also interested in the 30' and 32' Skater I/O. I have heard that there was a new 30' flat deck with I/O's either being built or already done. I have also heard the samething about a new flat deck 32'. Does anyone have any information and photos on either of these?

Thanks

1/4 of fuel
Two people
200 pounds of gear. (Anchors, life jackets, spare props, safety kit.....)
6 to 10 knots of head wind, the top speed is 101 MPH on GPS.

1 Attachment(s)
Engine Configurations Estimated Speeds*
2 X2.5 Mercury efi Outboards 95-97 mph
2 X Mercury 300 Outboards 100-103 mph
3 X 2.5 Mercury EFI Outboards 110-113 mph
3 X Mercury 300 Outboards 116-120 mph
2 X Mercury HP500EFI Bravo One stern drives 102-106 mph
2 X Mercury HP575SCi Bravo One stern drives 118-120 mph
2 X Mercury HP500EFI Dry Sump Six stern drives 115-118 mph
2 X Mercury HP800SCi Dry Sump Six stern drives 120-123 mph
2 X Sterling HP825 Dry Sump Six stern drives 145-150 mph
2 X Mercury HP1050SC Dry Sump Six stern drives 165+ mph
2 X Sterling HP1150 Dry Sump Six stern drives 170+ mph

A couple outboards will certainly be cool. 525 EFI's just give you that V-8 sound. I like the sound. Either way is fine I am sure.

how is the same boat with a heavier outdrive that takes more hp to turn faster then the lighter boat that takes less hp to turn the drive?
