Need to know what kind of boat and how big the letters would be.

It depends on if you plan on keeping the boat. IMHO, If the name is plastered all down the side it affects resale by limiting prospective buyers. :)

You can always do it in vinyl.... And I have our name on the back of the boat (not documented).

Re: Where to put your boats name

On big sportfishing boats which are generall one color hull, the name is always on the back almost always painted on. this is how the owners show there poersonality ets. coming from mostly sportfishing boats i followed the same idea but without room onthe back i had it painted onthe side of an otherwise all with boat.
I think it looks better then a yellow boat with orange waves and its fairly inexpensive in comparison. but it al depends on your personalty.

Here is a pitcher of the boat its a 1996 Baja 252. The letters are done in vinyl.
so they can be removed.

Vinyl on side. When on the back not very many people can see it.

Personally put mine across the fairing on the 34 powerquest I had..($pensive) and haven't decided where to put it on the 292 formula I have now...I want to watch this one to see what ideas people have.

Re: Where to put your boats name

I was only able to put 2.5" high letters on the stern above the rubrail.
I thought it would have been unreadable at any distance... so I just left it off.

Definately depends on the name and the boat, i was going to say it usually looks better on the back but the ones in this thread look pretty good on the side.

bobbarker, I think i saw you in friday coming out of Bolles Harbor, assuming there's no other boats like yours which looked pretty good by the way, I was in the red and white Chris Craft.

Bow, SB side, Port side, Transom... I think the only place I lack Monsoon is on the bottom of the hull. :D :D
