What are these called?

The triangular stands that people set boats on...what is the technical name for them? I want to search for some (preferably with wheels) but I don't know what to search by...

Re: What are these called?

Are you talking about a ''cradle''? If it has wheels, I believe that it would be refered to as a ''dolly''.

Re: What are these called?

Around here we call them shoring stands. Some attach to a railroad tie, some have legs.
But we don't put wheels under them or our boats will fall down. There is pressure to the outsides when you use these stands on a V bottom. The weight is carried on an angle. People usually even put wood down in stones so that the stands don't creep outward over time.
They're good for painting bottoms, because you can move them around and get the whole hull.
Hope that helps.

That outward press. always scares me so I run a strap across the two opposing each other to hold them in.

Ok, got it! Like, Duh, they're called "boat stands". http://www.boatstands.com/ These guys were super helpful. Although they didn't have what I was looking for (portability) they pointed me to two of their competators who do carry the items I wanted. http://yardarm.com/marine_products/m...lly_system.htm http://www.hostarmarine.com/dollies/index.htm

Load-Rite Trailers makes some real nice "Dollys". "Jack Stands typically don't have wheels.

I HAVE SEVERAL (10) DOLLIES STANDS WITH WHEELS CUSTOM MADE HERE IN OMAHA I AM LOOKING TO SELL, WE USED THEM ONCE FOR A BOAT SHOW WE TOOK ALL THE BOATS OFF THE TRAILERS AND PUT THEM ON THESE STANDS. EACH HAS A CAPACITY OF 4000 POUNDS AND THEY ARE FULLY ADJUSTABLE WITH HEAVY DUTY CASTOR'S ALSO ALL WELDS AND CONSTRUCTION WERE DONE BY A CERTIFIED WELDER AND HE PUT THE CAP. LIMITS ON THE DOLLIES. WE DECIDED TO BUILD THESE BECAUSE WE HAVE USED OTHER BRANDS AND FOUND THAT THEY WERE MADE CHEAP AND BEND. THESE WILL BLOW AWAY ANY MANUFACTURED PRODUCT MADE CURRENTLY. I NO LONGER NEED THEM AND THEY ARE TAKING UP STORAGE SPACE. ALSO THEY MAKE GREAT MOTOR STANDS EMAIL OR PM ME OR CALL 877-419-6464 :drink: MAKE OFFER I WILL TRY TO POST A PIC
