Re: What's your opinion about Extreme Boats Mag?

It now appears as though delivery problems have been solved...(WHEW) :drink:

1) The photos are great as long as there is a nearby reference as to WHO is in the photo..People like to see their name, boat in print...

2) I think a special fold out center page (or other methodology)should be dedicated to each events SPECIFIC CLASS WINNER (all racers are winners, but this should be dedicated to those that cross the finish line FIRST) and not too small a photo..

3) ALL photos should include a caption of who-what where- the subject is. Delete all small photos where-in one needs a magnifying glass to decipher who/what it represents ..

4) IMHO- I'd rather see a great racing action photo than a pair of "bolt ons".
Of course a photo or two of natural 34C's are always appreciated.

5) How about an article each month on Female driver/throttleperson of the month??

6) Same for male driver/throttleman of the month??

OK--OK--WELL you asked Ron..

See ya in Key Breast...

OH yesssss....Get that helicopter lower to get those great head on views that Hot Boat/Power Boat gets.

Re: What's your opinion about Extreme Boats Mag?

I think EBM does a great job of covering the boating LIFESTYLE!!

I like the fact it is not exclusively a race publication, poker run publication, or advertisement for boat builders.

IMHO if you want to see race chicks, lobby RACE magazines for them (race guys too), same for poker runs. There is a magazine for that.

I enjoy stuff that relates to me, as in tow vehicle tests and features, drinks section, as well as the extreme girls. :D

If this is truly a magazine for and about the boating LIFESTYLE, then perhaps features on "EXTREME HOT SPOTS" would be handy!
For example, take and ordinary Joe (like me, I'm available :D :drink: :D ) and send them to cover Party Cove at LOTO, Dripping Springs at Grand Lake, the sandbar at Havasu, Key West (Duvall st.) and any other place on the planet that has groups of like minded boaters having a good time!

Don't cave to the special interest groups and forge ahead with what you have, continuing to improve and expand as you go!

My .04  :D

The heck they are!!!! :hothead: :hothead: They still don't have periodical rate and are being sent I belive 3rd class....Ron please explain this...A lot of people do not understand that the situation is NOT FIXED! Anyone here take you issue to your local post-office and ask them why they are never timely like most periodicals (magazines) Your local post office can explian it all to you...I belive most of you are VERY misled or at the least un-aware....That being said the magazine has gotten better in every aspect....EXECPT DELIVERY!!! Now this is my personal opinion but I think EBM needs to step up to the plate and explain to all it's customers the situation on how the periodical postage rate/class effects delivery. According to my local post office EBM can in no way promise a timely delivery.....If you look at page 4 of this issue the application for periodical rate is PENDING at Phoenix AZ.
EBM can make the most awesome mag in the world but once it gets sent out it might as well be "junk-mail" cuz thats how it gets treated. Ron please help me out here and explain why you have not expained this. Finally I wish this mag luck cuz I think we need another performance boating mag. Competition is always good. I think EBM has a good idea. That being said when someone pays money for something and are in my humble opinon misled I tend to get upset.

Sorry for the rant

Re: What's your opinion about Extreme Boats Mag?

Just some more food for thought...I belive #2 Frequency of Publication is of the most intrest. Correct me If I am wrong but I read this to mean unless your deliverys are timely they will not grant you the rate.....I also am under the impression that untill this application is approved Postage must be paid in ADVANCE.If this is the case EBM must decide what rate to send the magazine at and in turn that decides the priorty and in turn how timley the delivery will be... Again sorry for the rant but I have some VERY close ties to the post office and just want to clear up this issue.

This last one was the best so far. One thing I would like to see is more tech info, and I'm not just talking about how to change your oil. In this months poker run there was a great article on seting up a hi perf fuel system. We all know what makes our boats go, tell me how to make it go faster.

Re: What's your opinion about Extreme Boats Mag?

Nice detective work Bad-Habit. I had some of the first issues show up in ROUGH shape...like just the cover. The last few have been intact with minmal damage. I'm sure onve EBM gets a tighter printing schedule they will will no longer send them 3rd class(junk mail).

Re: What's your opinion about Extreme Boats Mag?

Regarding the postal issue. The answer is that we have applied for the permit and when we meet all the post office requirements, they will most likely grant it to us. Until then, we just need to make do with 3rd class postage.

Thanks for clearing this up. It's good business to let everyone know what they should expect from your product. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your magazine grow...

Re: What's your opinion about Extreme Boats Mag?

More info. Apparently there is a minimum number of pieces that need to be mailed each month in order to get the permit for the better mail service. Unfortunately, our circulation is still too small to meet the requirement set by the post office. Once we hit the number of subscriptions needed, the permit will be granted.

So you can all help by.........:)

Re: What's your opinion about Extreme Boats Mag?

Ron,
The only thing I could ask for is 12 issues per year. I just can't get enough. Your poker run coverage has been great. Hope you get a bigger shot of my boat next time. I believe your photographers name is Kasey. The guy can make my boat look better on film than it does in person.

I subscribed before the magazine was released. Is it time to renew again? I want a T-shirt.

Re: What's your opinion about Extreme Boats Mag?

Ron,

The magazine is a breath of fresh air and has all the features that intrique not only the extreme gearhead, but also the entry level guy or gal that are just 'getting their feet wet'. Your sales team, headed by the one and only Johnny Extreme are a joy to talk to and be with when around sponsors at an event. Johnny's name came up many times after the Oshkosh Thunder Poker Run when I was talking to key sponsors. They were very impressed. You guys have a great thing going - keep up the great work!

And I don't care how many issues come out a year, or when I get them. I look forward to getting each and every one. (The horse is dead, so either shoot it one more time or kick it if it makes your feel good). I here if you kick it two times you get a free T-Shirt...

It's probably the only mag I look forward to nowadays.

And I gotta thank you too.

We went dock watching today at the Waters Edge and on the way back stopped at Biker's Dream and got this. THANKS! Roger seemed to appreciate me bringing it too!

Re: What's your opinion about Extreme Boats Mag?

I thought the magazine was great. It was everthing else that went to SH*T! I never received my t-shirt(not that it was that big of a deal), when I signed up in May of 03 I was to receive more than 4 issues, which was all that I received, I didn't receive the issue that had just came out in May of 03, also didn't receive a renewal letter. I didn't report any of this because I was already worn-out trying to get EBM to send me my first issue. I had left messages and my calls were not returned.
