Re: Milwaukee Race! Patrol boats and pit area help needed.

:(
I just got done re-reading the website and it says patrol boats communucate by VHF
I do NOT have a VHF radio :(
Is there someone I can borrow one from? A portable unit?

Or can someone point to a good one ot buy, which I would rather not do since I really have no other use for one where I normally boat.
If it means that I have to buy one to participate in this I will buy it and return it when back home, but would rather not have that headache.

I used to have a spare radio, but I replaced it because it was no longer reliable. Somebody must have a good one that you could borrow.

I'd love to have you stay with us MN, but I simply do not have the room. Most of the boaters are going to stay at the Pfister in downtown. It's a really really nice hotel and it's a long walk from the action. It's not cheap though. Do you want to stay downtown or out in the burbs?

I did not know how far you live from here so thought you guys might have to get a room also.

If its not cheap, then its not for me :)

Seen on the site last night that the HJ is the hotel they have.
69 a night. Will probably do that.
Thought about somewhere else, but since I do not know the area I figure a $2 shuttle to hte site is cheap :)

Here is a copy of the e-mail that I received from Mark last night. I have no idea what the hell his issue is, but apparently he's not a very happy camper. I guess that me asking him to follow up on my application was just too much to ask.

Cord,

You know what. We have plenty of volunteers that are doing this because they love the sport. If you are worried about someone getting back to you, then make a frickin phone call and check on the status. After doing this for a year or two, I thought you would understand the commitment it takes to pull off an event like this. I am venting because you are always whining on OSO about APBA, the DNR noise problems and other bull**** which pulls events down. If you don't want to be positive about this or other events that APBA or Oshkosh Thunder produces, then you know what - why don't you just sit on the sidelines...

Sheesh Cord, maybe we should just sit this one out and have fun as regular spectators?? Your choice.

Re: Milwaukee Race! Patrol boats and pit area help needed.

Mike-If we are regular spectators, then we can move around as we wish. We can pick our own viewing spot. We don't have to be anchored all day with Vicki getting sick. We can stretch our legs, get something to eat and take a bathroom break whenever we want. We can hang with the Chicago crew and have a good time. As you remember, we don't need a pass to get into the pits. There is every reason not to help, other than you get to be a little closer to the action. That's the only advantage. Right now, if APBA replies and accepts my offer to help, then I will help. Otherwise, I'm just a spectator.
