The boat we were watching last year, wasn't really doing anything exciting. He was basically anchored in place and just had to keep an eye out. Of course he watched the races more than the events around him. He pulled anchor twice. Once to chase after a boat that got too close to the race course. "Hey if I anchor in front of everybody, then I get a good view!" Moron. The second time he pulled up was to chase after a buoy that had broken loose. Unfortunately, he was really slow on the pickup. Everybody else knew that it was moving long before he did. That was the source of our buoy comments earlier. I really don't know if the guy had any responsibilities on land or if he had to attend any orientation meetings. I guess for the opportunity to have a better viewing point, we were willing to help out. Exciting? Not even close.

That's enough of that topic. Based on what we saw last year, the guy really needed to improve his anchor setup. It took him way too long to pull anchor. I was planning on attaching my anchor rode to a float with a short clip line going to the boat. That way I only need to undo the clip to move. That alone would save several minutes by not having to pull and reset the anchor.

That sounds like a good idea but wouldn't the anchor line rise straight up from the bottom to the float? And then where is recommended 7:1 ratio angle? I can't envision that set up would hold.

You only need to float the end of the line, not the whole anchor! Actually, I belive that a inflatable fender will work for this. Just enough to keep the line on the surface. After that it doesn't matter because the boat will pull the line to the correct angle.

Mark,

Good idea on the sticky and Racers area. Will do. By the way, if anyone is looking for a hotel room, the host hotel is Howard Johnsons and we are getting a rate of $69.
Tell them that you are with the race for the rate...

I Hope The 75 Billion Gallons Of F Matter Dumped By The Milwaukee Metro.sewage District Does Not Effect The Boats To Much, maybe All That Power Will Help Grind Up The Matter.
