Just got back from SOTW, what a great turn out. PROBLEM----One of our fellow boaters decided to TAKE a huge picture/banner of our 50 Nor-Tech cat. The banner was there because (we) Nor-tech are major sponsors for the event. If anyone knows of its location or any information please contact us or have the person send it back.No Questions asked. Its a sad day when one of our (boaters) events, turns out with people like this. Why would anyone want a picture of another boat and people they dont even know? Please help,Thanks

Sorry I can't help you but I know how you feel. We always seemed to lose a few banners at our Heat Wave Poker Runs. There are always a few in the crowd who spoil it for everyone else.

it's not right for someone to take ,but we all have pics or wallpaper of boats we don't own or do we know the people in them . it's just a great piece of art to hang on a wall. i'm sure that who ever took it knows that it was wrong and what comes around goes around.

Yes we do have pics of other people and boats, but as you said they should be purchased or auctioned for charity. Also this banner was 7 FT by 12 Ft. not just a little poster .Thanks for the help.

Re: Stolen Banner from SOTW

yup ,i agree ,auction for charity or something. those banners are not cheap !!

Re: Stolen Banner from SOTW

I'm sure somebody grabbed it not realizing that that it wasn't available. Cheap or not, those banners are devalued at the end of a event.

Pretty much ANY motrsports or BMX event I've ever been to the banners are all gone by the end of the weekend. In alot of cases it's encouraged. I understand that was probably an expesive banner to print , but I am sure some one loves the way it looks in there shop now. Just my $.02
PS I've got one of the BADD ASS Alcone banners in my shop.

That is a HUGE banner!!! Shame that someone would think that this was a run of the mill banner!! I got a GM powered banner in Orange Beach....but I went to the GMC truck and asked for one for our balcony at the Island House!! (upstanding citizen that I am ) Hope that the person sees this and does the right thing!! :(

R addiction, that is the type of response I like to hear.I would of had no problem with somone asking and then $ going to charity. We wanted to use this for other events. I understand what many of you are saying but Justification just doesnt fly with me. Bottom line for this issue, ask (like r addiction) and for the rest keep your frvi#^%% HANDS OFF OTHER PEOPLES CHIT. We would like it back no questions asked. THanks. I hate it when fingers start missing.

Re: Stolen Banner from SOTW

Problem here is this was not a date specific banner it was a show banner.
Cord i must disagree it is one thing to take posters another to take banners without permission and this is not expected to happen they only devalue when they are date specific
Normally you hope top continue to use it through the year

I am not surprised it happened (nothing surprises me anymore) but i am certainly dismayed that someone would think that this was there property to take

I know what it took to make this banner and the cost of it and I am sure the person who took this really didn't look at it like it was a problem to take . In light of this thread I hope that the Banner will be returned no questions asked now that it has been explained that it wasn't theirs for the taking

I have now narrowed it down to a time frame in which it was taken

It was while people were still in the tent on Saturday night

I just spoke to someone who saw it being taken down and assumed thew were taking it down for the owners and didn't think much about it but he said it was while we were cleaning tables Saturday night and there still was alot af people hanging around in the tent drinking beer

Good work Sherlock :) The power of the Board is back. I bet that was a $1000 banner and anyone would not be able to show it now that we are looking for it so it is worthless to them....glad they gave it back. It's like a fine piece of stolen art, who could ever re sell it? It is on the hot list and is worthless..just like this piece. It is really cool, I would love to own one, anyone want to sell one...legitimately.

Re: Stolen Banner from SOTW

Glad to hear its being returned.
The only banner we ever stole was from the WAWA down the street from our beach house. At 3am we made a run for ice and munchies to find the store closed. Their was a banner that read "Open 24 hrs / 365 Day a Year" Hmmmmm. we called BS and thought that it would be more truthful hung on our beach house.
For our 25th aniversary of the house we had T-shirts done that read...
"George Washington never slept here but everyone else has"
and one of the very few house rules....
"Friends of Friends may not bring Friends"

That was hung on what would be the western wall of the tent, right? I looked at that banner for some time because the line for the FOOD WENT FROM ONE END OF THE TENT TO THE OTHER!!!!!! LOL!!! :D Then we found out we were in the salad line. Who need rabbit food when there's lobster to be had!!!

paraspinaldocs 07-12-2004 09:16 PM

Re: Stolen Banner from SOTW

Re: Stolen Banner from SOTW

Marc,

I agree with you. Banners at events are not for someone to steal and hang in their garage because "they think it's cool". I'll watch for the banner in my travels if you watch for the (2) Oshkosh Thunder banners that got stolen at our event. It's the principal more than the value that gets me on this. By the way, nice job on your event.

Mark
