Re: Help Identify this Hull
Reminds me of a Switzer/Switzer Craft mid sixties - mid seventies. Built by the same guy who built the Switzer wing thats been discussed on this board before. Could be a neat project!

Re: Help Identify this Hull
Is there no mfg'ers plate on the transom ? . . . anywhere ? How long is it ?
Looks like it might be a late 60's - early 70's flivver-type hotrod. Try stickin an old Merc 80-115 on it - probably be haulin' the mail in that thing. Looks like a fun project. |
Re: Help Identify this Hull
The measurements on the boat are, 14' 8" Length X 4' 8" beam. The cockpit is 5' 3" L X 3' W.
I have not seen it in person yet. Hey, for $25 what the hell!!!! So what is it?? |

Re: Help Identify this Hull
It could have even been a one off project boat. There is no way anyone will know what this boat is unless it was built around there. Looks like fun, hope it can be brought back to life. Looks like it had an outboard but I see room for a 350 behind the seat. :) Not much of a dead rise so be careful on those boat wakes.

Re: Help Identify this Hull
Phantom, there is a boat around the corner from me that looks similar to that, maybe even a little shorter. It has a for sale sign on it. I'll see if I can get some pics and some info. This one is on a trailer and still has power however...lol.

Re: Help Identify this Hull
Its the new Thad Allen "Apache" for sure. Notice the excellent finish, the mold that came out of MUST have been perfect.

Oh, .....you mean.........good idea. He's the man. :) :) The hull is a puzzle. The transom shot indicates that it had a thrust block mounted ahead of the outboard's center section. The size indicates a Sport E/G Class OPC race boat which allowed a single seat configuration. The hull is definitely a cut down "pop"...probably from a 15' or 16' Glastron.....but the dead rise does seem a little shallow. One of the S&F contributers felt it might be a Regatta hull....... Early Bajas also looked like that and a guy on Long Island made a similar hull as well. I also recall a company called Hustler (not today's brand) that made a hull that resembled this one. It is definitely not a Switzer, nor an Allison which were from original plugs and had much better craftsmanship. There were so many little derivative hulls back in the day and so many modifications made to them that it is hard to tell. Come to think of it that applies to the current spate of performance hulls as well. Bottom line..... It's worth at least $25 bucks. Let me know if you come up with an answer. T2x |
