Richmond "Jammin on the James" Poker Run

Well, we're coming down to the last few preparations for the Poker Run this weekend. For the first time ever we have sold out! There are no more rooms, slips, or hands available.

So, who's heading in this weekend? My log shows boats all the way from SC up to MD. We are going to have live entertainment Friday night after the Captain's Meeting, so plan on getting here early and joining us for music by "Tin Man", a local bar favorite.

Contact me if you have any questions...

We are coming, a little concerned about Osborne Landing, if Jordan Point only has parking for 20 boat trailers. Trailering down Sat. morning. If they dont get that ramp open, any suggestions where to launch?? Not familiar with the area, coming from MD. Looking forward to a good time. The RPBA, always puts on a great run. Plus its for a charity.

Re: Richmond "Jammin on the James" Poker Run

We have talked to the DGIF and they should be done by Thursday or early Friday, but just in case there is another ramp pretty close with in 15 mins, Hopewell Yacht Club, it is ok and plenty of parking, cost for the weekend about $8.00. I will post here as soon as I know something. If it is closed, I will post directions elsewhere.

Steve - post a WTX link for the area so we can see what the weather guessers are predicting.

Re: Richmond "Jammin on the James" Poker Run

Ramps - I received an email from someone that saw them washing Osborne in preparation for opening. Unless I post it here, consider Osborne open. Hopewell, Dutch Gap, and Jordan are all open. A hint for my OSO friends - launch Friday night at Jordan and get a slip for the night. That way your boat is ready to roll for Saturday. Jordan is being very reasonable on slip rates, so give them a call.

Weather - Latest report is that the weather will return to "summer normal" by Friday - 30% chance of late afternoon t-boomers. Why post weather links - everybody has their favorite. Since all of our summer t-storms roll in from the west, I'll post my personal prediction: When I'm at the Radisson, at the Banquet, listening to the one of the best bands in the state ("The Worx"), a t-storm will come thru and cool things off. I'll be on the docks drinking Cap'n Mo'gan by 11pm and it will be dry.

Whooooop, there it is.....

I have a slip at Jordan Point, and plan to launch around Happy Hour on Friday. I will be spending the night on the boat in the slip, and if you guys need updates, I will try and take calls on Friday night/Saturday morning with parking/ramp updates at Jordan Point, but no guarantees on cell coverage. PM me if you need my number.

Thanks for the Info guys. Steve you are welcome to tour anytime. I know a friend of mine with a T/S Top Gun was trying to get in under the wire. Kevin Clements. What happened to the 40 Baja Outlaw with the 1075's and sixes?

Kevin is coming.

The Baja 40 wasn't ready in time so they backed out.

The lastest on the Osbourn ramp from one of my staff...

"I just talked to James Adams from DGIF. The dredger plans to pack up and be out of there by Friday afternoon and the County plans to open the gates Saturday morning. However, Mr. Adams is making no promises and will touch base with me tomorrow and again Friday morning in case we need to contact folks. "

Weather forecast has gotten better! Down to only a 20% chance of t-boomers. And the marine forecast is good - low winds from the south.

Re: Richmond "Jammin on the James" Poker Run

The very, very latest on the Osborne ramp..

"I apologize if this is a duplicate message, but I wanted you to know that
the Osborne Landing ramp will re-open on Saturday. There is a fishing
tournament (about 45 boats registered) that is using Osborne as their base,
but they anticipate being out on the river by 6:30 a.m., so you shouldn't
run into any congestion at the ramp. Henrico County has graciously agreed
to keep the gate to the grass are adjacent to the parking lot open for any
overflow parking. Additionally, the Henrico police know that there will be
trucks and trailers staying overnight in the parking area. The fishermen
involved in this tournament know about our poker run and know to be on the
lookout for us between 9:30-10:30 a.m. In addition, there is a larger bass
fishing tournament taking place on the James River closer to Williamsburg,
that involves about 125 boats so be especially careful when going through
that area."

...and remember that Hopewell and Jordan Point are also open, so we'll have plenty of ramp space available.

I've hired live entertainment for Friday night after the Captain's meeting, so stick around afterwards. And we're giving away $2500 at the Captain's Meetings (you must be present to win!), so it's worth sitting through my lecture.

Re: Richmond "Jammin on the James" Poker Run

Brian, you're adding two hands to your boat when you get here, right?

For those of you "jumping" rides at the last minute, there will be a table set up for collecting your crew/hand fee. It's $125 for one crew member (gets you lunch, banquet, and a t-shirt), or $300 per hand (covers two people - gets two lunchs, two banquets, two t-shirts, Poker Run video, and eligibilty for all prizes)

Thanks Brian and Steve.

My daughter and her friend want to go skiing tomorrow so I blew the cobb webs out of my 19' and will be on it tomorrow. We will do some skiing in Potomac or Nanjemoy Creeks for a while and then probably hang around Fairview. Bill and Patty, I'll keep an eye out for you.
