2001 Scarab 33- Top speed?
 

What is the top speed of a 2001 Scarab AVS with 500efi's? I have a friend who tells me he does 88mph with this set-up. Possible?

I'm pretty sure its right around 65-70mph.

GPS'd a 98 33 with 502 mags on saturday and it went 73.3 down river with a tail wind and light chop. Don't know is that helps or not. It was his first time with the GPS, it was an eye opener for him. Dream-o-meter said 78.

IF this is the case, I would expect the extra 100 HP of the 500's to be worth approx. 5-6 mph.. so I would think around 78-79 mph..

I witnessed the 73.3 myselfon the Ohio river in 70 degree low himidity weather. I don't think there is any differnence in the hulls from a 98 to a 01. if i recall it had a 1/2 tank of fuel.

I thought it was lower. I've been on the boat when the "gauge" indicated 84 and it felt nothing like 84....

Powerboat test reports of a '98 33 AVS w/500HPs ran 82.8 MPH @ 5400 RPM turning 28 pitch 4 blade Bravo Ones. My Scarab with 525EFIs runs 82 - 83MPH @ 5000 RPM. It has low hours and the props haven't been lab finished. I project it would run between 85 - 88 MPH...with me driving :rolleyes:

My old 1999 33 avs with 502efi's would run at 72 constant bravo 1's and 4 blader bravos. the volvo 600's would run right around 88-90 mph carbed 502's in a 1994 31, will click around 66. hope these help.

scarab105 has one but he has 800's in his!!!
