Hardy Dam Pond weekend of Aug. 7!! Who's in??
 

Hello,
A group of us from LaPorte will be making the trek to Hardy Dam next weekend and want to see if we can get some more OSO'ers interested. I will have the new WETTE VETTE running hard hopefully and there will be four or five other cool rides in our group. So if anyone is interested let us know and we will keep a lookout for you!!

August 7 is also the big weekend of the Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven. Most of the West Michigan guys and gals will be there for the big party.

Yup, Hanky Panky bay, Fireworks, all that weekend. Save the trip for the Party on the Hardy and stop in GH, it is an hour less drive for you also. You can stay at my house for free, I am in Holland where the ramps are empty and the people know how to back up straight. It is a 20 mile ride to GH. No cluster F**K at the ramp in the dark either, we will be the only ones there at that time.

I will be outta town next weekend, parents are out of town and have to take care of the house up north. I will be boatless for the weekend but will have a nice chick with me that loves being in bed all day nekkid :D :D

Well it sounds like GH will definately be a good time. I only have .8 HRS on my new 598 and really want to stay on inland waters until I feel everything is right and there are at least 10 HRS on the motor. Hardy is guaranteed to have good running conditions for me to do some testing and as you guys know Lake Mich hasn't been very friendly this year. We will be back for the party so I guess we will se everyone then!!

I will probably go the GH on Saturday and Hardy on Sunday.

I went to Hardy today ( sun day )
Spent half the day up at the sandbar. Had a great time and watched the STV's race.
When I left the sandbar I kind of hot dogged it a little by opening up the exhaust and trimming the drives just as I nailed the throttles. Then I pulled it back to a cruise.

WELL about 1/2 mile downriver an outboard cat caught up to me. ( I had seen him run earlier in the day and didn't think that he was that fast ( 70 or so ) Turns out I was pretty close guess. I smoked him... I would like to have been at the sandbar when he got back to hear what He told his friends. I was a good 10 MPH faster then him.
Boy that sure makes you feel good.
And then to top it off I drew a good crowd of kids and adults when pulling the boat out and one young girl even told me the boat looked SEXY

We are still planning on going to Hardy this weekend. I will actually get there on Thursday. Hope to see ya there!!! I'll bet the STV freaked when you passed him up!!

It wasn't an STV.

It was something else - didn't get a good look at it.
It was a tunnel outboard. Sounded good but wasn't very fast.
If I see him again I will see if He will let me drive it and give him some advise to make it go faster.
It was kind of yellow and orange.

There was a capsule boat ( like an STV ) up at the sandbar doing drags.
He did 114 on GPS and was doing high speed turns. WOW
HE would be going like 70 - 80 MPH and just flip it around and go back the other way.
It was all white with no markings at all ( NO RACE # )

Was it an 18' all white mirage with a mercury drag motor? It was probably Rob (a real tall guy). If so, that boat flat out gets it!
I am heading up to Hardy with the American Offshore Thursday night to meet up with Wette Vette. I want to try and get a few hours on the boat too.
I think we are planning on staying until Suday afternoon, so maybe we will see you there.

Leaving tommorow can't wait. I went for a 112 mph pass in Robs boat, what a rush!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, despite the activities in GH, Hardy was still a great time! Maybe not quite as many hot rods as normal, but pretty busy. Here are some pictures of our group from the weekend.

Here are some photos of the new WETTE VETTE. Best speed is 112 MPH turning a 30 Bravo 1 labbed prop 6600 RPM through 1.36 gears. I will be trying a 32 lab hoping to pull 6000 - 6300 RPM and hopefully better than 112.

We also got to see Check300 run his awesome turboed Check! What a ride that boat is!! I didn't get any photos of his boat (sorry Bill). We will be back for the Hardy party and hope to see more OSOer's then. I will be tweaking the WV and will hopefully find a few more MPH!! :D

It was fun running with you last weekend. Can't wait to do it again. Did Max Velocity find out what happened to his engine? I had to replace my sea water pump as the bearings were frozen. No other damage so I'm ready to run again. Tom Earhart is going to help me do some high rpm tuning tomorrow so should be interesting.

Actually Max Velocity toasted his Bravo 1 and it locked up on him. His motor is fine and the high, milky oil came from his exhaust. It is either reversion or he took some waves into his exhaust when he was beached. I am doing some carb tuning and I have 3 new props to try that should get my RPM's down. In case none of the props work I am putting in a 7000 REV limit chip so I can run the boat with tunnel tabs all the way up and let that motor sing!! The drive won't like it, but it will certainly be fun!!! See you soon at the lake!! Can't wait to see Earhardt blow by me at 130 ++++.

I should be picking the AO up this Thursday with the new upgraded drive.
Hopefully this one will last a little longer than 5 hours.....

Yes, I converted. I also got rid of the imco 2" shorty and went with the standard length lower. I was getting some major prop slip #'s with the shorty. I guess all the people that told me NOT to put the shorty on knew what they were talking about.
