Need some advise, Internet Sales.

After reading posts on here about people selling props and stuff over the internet and having people pay by cashiers check, to then later to find out it was counterfeit long after the stuff is gone.
I have placed several ads fro high ticket items on the internet. Most the responses I am getting want pay with a certified cashiers check. Some of them have even offered to pay more? Quite a few of the offers involve shipping the stuff out of the country.
I am set up to take credit card, so that is the way I prefer to be paid.
Is it safe to collect a casheirs check? What about postal money order or bank wires?
Anyone who does alot of internet sales, Please give me some advise. I don't want to be ripped off.
Thanks,
BG XO

I just sold some props to a guy in MI and sent them C.O.D. and he doesn't get them until he pays UPS with a cashier's check or money order. I guess credit card is a good way to go. Good luck.

Best way to get paid:
Let it slip that you shot a man in Reno, Just to watch him die!
Then see if you get bad checks.

Hello B.G,, For Me a Bank to Bank Wire Transfer , works smoother and easier plus you don't have to give up the 2.5% that VISA & Mastercard charges. We have a typed form with our wiring instructions on it that I fax to the Cust. Usually within 2 to 4 Hours, the transaction is complete. Also on the Credit Card Deal, we are faxing our Customers an acceptance form, which consists of there C.C. info , billing address for the Card, and the all important signature that authorizes the purchase. Whenever we rec. a Cashiers Check from a new Cust. all it takes is one Phone Call to verify its authenticity and your good to go!!! :)
We'll be in Islamorda the first week of Nov. so keep your schedule clear for a couple of day's anyway,, where you can show us the "GOOD PLACES" to go to by Boat. :eureka: :D :drink:

Bat Girl, when they offer to pay more, it is definately a scam. They offer to pay more to cover "your extra expense", and then you can "mail them a check later for the difference." Meanwhile, the entire cashier's check is counterfeit, and your gear is in their hands. You gotta have the money in your bra before the goods go out.

Thanks for all the advise. I think every reply I got was a scam. Not one legit customer. I am going to put the stuff on E-bay.
Mama, Come down the 2nd week in Nov, thats when the Key West Worlds are and all the best Poker Run Boats are in town, not to mention the parties!

Be very careful with certified bank checks. I got scammed out of 3,500.00 and the next day charges from Fed Ex. The check was from Fleet Bank in New Jersey. Keep in mind that the carriers take NO responsibility (and don't care) if you receive a counterfeit check. The authorities will do very little or nothing. If they do catch the scum they will probably plea bargain to a misdemeanor.

I have also had problems with chargbacks with credit cards.

No problems with cash................Good Luck
