Why do people do stupid things in their boat ads?
I have been looking at A LOT of boat ads lately. To the tune of probably more than 200 a week. Just keeping my eyes open for the perfect deal.
I have noticed a lot of ads that seem to do the same thing which makes no sense to me. People will run an ad that allows them 6-7 pictures of their boat. They then take 5-6 pics of the exterior of the boat at different angles and one of the transom. Seems like a waste of time to me. I don't need to see the outside of the boat 7 times at different angles to be able to buy it. I want to see a pic of the cabin, helm, cockpit, exterior, transom, and engine compartment. This would give me a good overall view of the boat. If your gonna take that many pics of the exterior for the ad why not just do one pic of the outside and call it good. It basically does the same thing in the long run. Can some of you enlighten me as to the reason people would do this? I'm quite sure there are several on here that are guilty of this very thing. I see several ads right here on OSO that are posted the same way. Why? Very confused, Buck |

Hey, I saw your add Buck, you did the same thing, didn't you?? LOL!!!!
I always like it when they say "better than new" or something similar. Yeah, right. It's a USED boat. Plain and simple. |

They commented that one of the main reasons mine stood out was the variety of pics and details that were shown in the ad. Hell, what do I know? I sold it in less than a month in an area that should be real hard to sell to. Buck |

Good point about wanting to see the whole boat rather than just the outside of the hull.
Maybe they are trying to assure people there is no dock rash anywhere?? If there was just one hull shot that would be the first question i asked. It's amazing to me what some people consider "normal wear and tear". I've seen "pampered 10's" that had all kinds of rub rail rash, yellowed and damaged interior etc. Maybe in the rec boat world more rash and trash should be expected but not on a high end performance boat. |
