Re: New Mercury 600
Hey Ozz, I thought it was going to be around 650-700hp, to closer bridge the gap from the 1075's. Jeff

Re: New Mercury 600
I heard that they will introduce the new engine and NEW drive at Miami if all goes well. Could not get any specifics, so it could be a re-hashed job or something new.
Any Fountain or Cig dealers might know more, as they generally get the opportunity to rig the first few boats with the new equipment (e.g. 1075s went into Fountain, Cig, and OL first).

The only bad thing is that it will probably be rediculously expensive like everything else Mercury sells. I hope someone gives them some serious competition to make them lower their high prices.
Perfect example:
I am looking at re-powing my Powerplay and will probably upgrade my drives also. If I went with merc's new package, it would probably be $70K for 2 engines and drives. That makes no sense, might as well buy another boat!!
I can have my HP500's refreshed and upped to 600HP for $22k for the 2 motors and replace drives for another (XR's) $15K, alot cheaper than Mercury.

I heard they will be an updated version of the 575's with Fuel injection and blown. Somebody else said they were not going to be blown but that's not what I heard. A 575 with fuel injection would probably hit 600 HP easily and still be quite compatible with an ZR. A great package for a lot of 38-42' boats that want to get into the 90's.
